Purpose of the Position

Prepares the maintenance schedules for a business unit or organization.

Essential Position Responsibilities – This is a Salary Exempt position.

Develops work plans for maintenance jobs, repairs, preventative maintenance schedules and installation of new equipment, with necessary information to allow efficient scheduling, assignment and execution of maintenance work to ensure equipment operates correctly and efficiently according to production requirements.

Performs field inspections and determines appropriate job work scopes. Creates, uses and maintains plant history and other technical files to include information in current job plans to anticipate and avoid job delays.

Assigns codes to work orders . Utilizes CMMS computer software and other computer applications to support the maintenance function. Consults and meets with engineers and vendors as needed. Provides technical assistance as required for maintenance personnel. Looking for an individual who can effectively train technicians and production supervisors on our CMMS software, ensuring that our team can fully leverage its capabilities for optimal performance.

Teaches others electrical and computer skills . Purchases and stages materials and special tools. Depending on the business unit to which one is assigned, may be responsible for ordering all maintenance parts and keeping inventory stocked . Prepares reports as needed and evaluates job feedback to improve future work and repairs.

Assists other maintenance personnel as needed to repair and maintain equipment. Stays up to date with current safety rules and regulations and demonstrates knowledge of safety hazards and appropriate precautions applicable to work assignments.

Participates as a member of the Team . Participates in the ongoing development, communication and implementation of team concepts, programs and policies; coordinates work to ensure best practices with all team members. Attends appropriate team meetings. As a member of the Team, fosters strong cohesiveness regarding all major issues; e.g., direction, annual plan, budget, policy changes, etc. Accepts responsibility to quickly identify any areas that lack cohesiveness, bringing them to the attention of the team leader and working with the team in a supportive manner to resolve issues and actively look for ways, and reinforce actions needed, to achieve synergy possible within the larger organization.

Simmons Operating systems principles and objectives: Is familiar with Simmons established operating systems (e.g. quality, security, office environment, company policies, LEAN); understands the responsibility to maintain familiarity with the systems and this positions role in support of these systems – including a consideration of the impact of individual actions on the systems and the responsibility to communicate concerns and improvement ideas.

Physical Activities: Enters and locates information on a computer. Visually verifies information, often in small print. Communicates with Customers, Vendors, or Employees via telephone, in person, and/or electronic mail. May present information to small or large groups. Must be able to work in various temperatures. Move about in a manufacturing environment and surrounding property including climbing stairs. May travel via car or plane to various work locations.

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Will use head covering, ear plugs (as needed) skid resistant, fire resistant clothing, steel toe shoes, safety glasses and other protective equipment as needed or required.

Travel: Local y as needed.

Technical Experience: 2 years maintenance experience. Must maintain a valid drivers license. Be able to obtain and maintain a company issued forklift license.

Industry Experience: Prefer previous food processing or manufacturing maintenance/planner experience

Minimum Education : High School Diploma or equivalent

Preferred Education : College or Vo-tech training in electrical or mechanical repair, hydraulics.
