A special education instructional aide, also known as a special education aide,works under the direction of a special education teacher to help students with learning, emotional, or physical disabilities.Their responsibilities include:
– Teaching:Assisting with presenting learning materials, explaining basic concepts, and reinforcing instructional activities
– Supporting students:Helping students with personal care, including feeding, bathroom needs, and hygiene
– Managing behavior:Helping to manage student behavior, including intervening in crisis situations
– Planning:Participating and helpingin lesson planning, classroom activities, and Admission, Review, and Dismissal (ARD) meetings
– Record-keeping:Maintaining student records and helping the teacher prepare reports and updating IEP report cards
– Classroom support:Preparing classroom materials, arranging and decorating the classroom, and keeping the classroom safe and orderly
– Accompanying students:Escorts students to and from designated locations, such as the lunchroom, buses, and field trips
– Equipment:Helping with the care and maintenance of equipment
– Instructional support:Assist with lesson plans, instructional materials, and the presentation of learning materials
– Student support:Help students with their educational and social development, including helping with physical needs, personal care, and behavior management
– Collaboration:Work with other professionals, such as speech therapists, social workers, and occupational and physical therapists
– Evaluation:Monitor student progress and ensure that findings are used to improve special education services
– Clerical support:Perform routine clerical support as needed
Conditions of Employment

I understand that Internatio al Leadership of Texas will keep such information in a confidential file, available only to appropriate district officials.

– 3 Local Days- Do not rollover to the following year.
– 5 State Days- Unused days will rollover.
