Graduate Engineer I Hiring Range: $62,462.00 – $78,077.00
Graduate Engineer II Hiring Range: $66,834.00 – $83,544.00
Engineer I Hiring Range: $ 75,513.00 – $89,544.00
Under general supervision of the Transportation Planning Coordinator, the Graduate Engineer/Engineer assigned to Transportation and Mobility performs engineering work related to the review, construction, investigation, development, and design of engineering projects and permits; assists in planning, coordinating, and implementing multi-modal transportation and greenways projects and programs; performs professional and technical work to support long-range transportation, thoroughfare, and greenway systems planning programs, including traffic engineering and planning studies; and the preparation and implementation of policies and programs relative to multi-modal transportation and greenways.
Principal Duties
1. Review construction plans, reports, and specifications to assure compliance with City, State, and Federal requirements, codes, and ordinances.
2. Assist with research, data collection, analysis, time and material estimation, and report preparation relevant to multi-modal transportation planning.
3. Assist in presentation of reports, studies, educational information, proposals, and recommendations to the Planning and Zoning Commission, Bicycle, Pedestrian, Greenways Advisory Board, Council Transportation and Mobility Committee, and City Council.
4. Assist with updating, maintaining, and implementing the Citys Thoroughfare Plan and Bicycle, Pedestrian and Greenways Master Plan; elicit community input/outreach; pursue grants and other external funding sources; and serve as project manager for related projects as needed.
5. Develop and maintain professional relationships with City staff, regional partners, and other stakeholders including serving as a City or Division representative on various boards, commissions, or committees.
6. Develop, maintain, and distribute educational information and promotional activities for the public relative to the Citys transportation systems.
7. Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required:
Graduate Engineer I
Bachelors Degree in civil engineering
Valid Texas Drivers License
Texas Engineer in Training (EIT) certification, preferred
Graduate Engineer II
Bachelors Degree in civil engineering and two (2) to four (4) years of civil and/or transportation engineering experience or educational equivalent
Texas Engineer in Training (EIT) certification, or the ability to obtain by reciprocity within six (6) months of date of hire
Valid Texas Drivers License
Engineer I
Bachelors Degree in civil engineering and four (4) to six (6) years of civil and/or transportation engineering experience or educational equivalent
Texas Professional Engineer (PE) License, or the ability to obtain by reciprocity within six (6) months of date of hire
Valid Texas Drivers License
Preferred:
Transportation engineering specialization or experience
Experience in municipal government
Management or supervisory experience
Public speaking experience
