Overview

GovCIO is currently hiring a proactive and detail-oriented Cyber Security Associate to join our team. This role is ideal for someone with 3-6 years of experience in cybersecurity, with a strong focus on utilizing intelligence reports, conducting research, and generating comprehensive security reports. The Cyber Security Associate will be instrumental in monitoring and managing security tools, responding to incidents, and supporting the overall security posture of the organization. Experience with Tanium, Microsoft Defender, Elixir, and Forescout is required, with preferred knowledge of Score, Chat Surfer, and JCC2 IKE. This position will be located in San Antonio, TX and will be an onsite position.

Responsibilities

The role involves enhancing the organizations security posture by leveraging intelligence reports to identify potential threats and vulnerabilities. The candidate will conduct in-depth research on emerging cybersecurity threats, trends, and technologies, and provide actionable recommendations. Key responsibilities include monitoring and managing cybersecurity tools such as Tanium, Microsoft Defender, Elixir, and Forescout to safeguard digital infrastructure. The candidate will analyze and respond to cybersecurity incidents, document findings, and implement remediation strategies. Additionally, they will produce detailed reports on security incidents, vulnerability assessments, and overall cybersecurity health, collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure the effective implementation of security policies, standards, and best practices. The role also requires maintaining thorough documentation of security processes, tool configurations, and research findings, while staying updated on the latest cybersecurity intelligence to integrate into the organizations security operations.

Utilize intelligence reports to identify potential threats and vulnerabilities, applying insights to enhance the organization’s security posture.

Conduct in-depth research on emerging cybersecurity threats, trends, and technologies, and incorporate findings into actionable recommendations.

Monitor and manage key cybersecurity tools, including Tanium, Microsoft Defender, Elixir, and Forescout, to protect the organization’s digital infrastructure.

Analyze and respond to cybersecurity incidents, documenting findings and implementing remediation strategies.

Produce detailed and accurate reports on security incidents, vulnerability assessments, and overall cybersecurity health.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the effective implementation of security policies, standards, and best practices.

Maintain thorough documentation of security processes, tool configurations, and research findings.

Stay current on cybersecurity intelligence, integrating new information into the organization’s security operations.

Qualifications

High School with 3 – 6 years (or commensurate experience)

Clearance Required: Secret

Required Skills and Experience

Experience in cybersecurity, with a focus on intelligence analysis, research, and reporting.

Security certification

Proven experience with Tanium, Microsoft Defender, Elixir, and Forescout.

Strong understanding of cybersecurity principles, including threat detection, vulnerability management, and incident response.

Excellent research and analytical skills, with the ability to produce clear and concise reports.

Strong communication skills, enabling effective collaboration with team members and clear reporting of findings.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a proactive approach to addressing cybersecurity challenges.

Preferred Skills and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, or a related field.

Experience with Score, Chat Surfer, and JCC2 IKE.

CISSP certification

Posted Pay Range

The posted pay range, if referenced, reflects the range expected for this position at the commencement of employment, however, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, education, experience, and internal equity. The total compensation package for this position may also include other compensation elements, to be discussed during the hiring process. If hired, employee will be in an “at-will position” and the GovCIO reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, GovCIO or individual department/team performance, and market factors.

Posted Salary Range

USD $80,000.00 – USD $110,000.00 /Yr.
