GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
An Access Control Technician is responsible for installing and maintaining physical security systems such as locks, access control systems, CCTV cameras, and other security equipment.
They must be knowledgeable in security systems, as well as troubleshooting and repair. They must also be able to interpret technical manuals, read blueprints and diagrams, and be
able to use professional tools.
The purpose of an Access Control Technician is to install, maintain, and repair security systems, including access control systems, to protect a facility and its occupants. This includes
installing and configuring hardware and software components, troubleshooting system malfunctions, and performing regular maintenance and testing to ensure optimal
performance. The technician must be knowledgeable in a variety of security systems and technologies, and must be able to work with users to determine their security needs. The
technician must also be able to respond to emergency situations and provide technical support to users.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot access control software and systems
Program access control systems to control access to premises, buildings, and other restricted areas
Ensure systems are up-to-date and compliant with security protocols and regulations
Monitor access control systems and respond to alarms
Perform regular maintenance of hardware and software components
Repair and replace faulty equipment
Provide technical support and troubleshooting
Update system databases and user accounts
Test and calibrate components and system
Train users on access control systems
Performs related work as required. (Position may not include all the duties listed, nor do the examples cover all the duties, which may be performed or supervised.)

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
Associates Degree or higher, preferred.
High School diploma or GED certificate, required.
Bi-Lingual (English/Spanish), preferred.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Lifting: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform he essential duties
of this position. While performing the duties of this positing the employee is frequently required to talk, hear, see, sit, stand, kneel, climb, feel and use fingers to handle and arms to
reach. The employee is required to be able to stand or sit for prolonged periods of time. The employee must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. of tools and equipment.
Specific vision required by this job includes both up close and distance vision.
Travel: Employee must maintain a valid Texas Drivers license. Expected travel to various County offices in all types of weather conditions. Due to the sensitive nature of
information, a criminal background check may be required.
Shift Work: Position requires 24-hour availability in order to support the needs of special functions or departments such as the Sheriffs office.
Other: Position requires professional business attire be worn to work daily.
