Position Purpose
No experience required:This is the entry-level position in a series of
Utility Technicians. Completes maintenance of the water transmission and
distribution system and operates maintenance and construction equipment a the
Associate (entry), Journey (mid), and Senior level.
2024 Salary Range/ Career Advancement:
Associate Level $47,402 – $64,816
Journey Level $52,256 – $71,453
Senior Level $57,608- $78,769 The City of Arvada promotes Equal Pay

education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as
internal equity. The range listed in the header is the entire range for
Associate level and typical placement upon hire is entry to mid-range.

certifications or if you currently hold a commercial drivers license;
your starting pay would reflect this.
Essential Functions / Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Performs maintenance of the water system infrastructure including but not
limited to such programs as main failure repairs, valve rotation, service
line maintenance, fire hydrant cleaning, painting and maintenance, water
main flushing, utility locations, air-vacuum valve maintenance, water
meter and transponder installation, meter pit repairs, vault repairs,
irrigation ditch maintenance, all excavation repairs and maintenance of the
wat
Utilizes appropriate personal protective equipment.
Responds to customer service calls on the system, including water
pressure, out of water, main failure, water quality and other like
problems and meets with customers.
Operates, inspects and maintains assigned equipment, including but not
limited to: tandem axle dump truck with trailer, small portable vacuum
unit, forklift, jackhammer, metal detector, paint sprayer, air
tester, air blower, front-end loader, large portable vacuum machine,
backhoe, valve rotation machine, concrete cutting saw, portable hoist,
power washer, hydraulic tamper, hydraulic hand tools, service line
freeze kit a
Informs utility supervisor, utility foreman, or senior utility system
technician of repair needs.
Performs shop and yard maintenance.
Responds to emergency situations, whether in the regular workday or after
hours.
Carries a cell phone for response to after-hour emergency calls to assist
customers as assigned by the supervisor or manager.
Must be able to accept and work scheduled shifts for snow removal and rotating
on-call shifts that are 24/7 and 365 days a year for emergencies such as
water main break and sewer breaks.
Completes required training units to maintain State of Colorado certification
and to meet City of Arvada policies.
Demonstrates a respectful attitude towards customers and coworkers that
promotes teamwork, open communication, and effective customer service.
Acts with the customer in mind, responds to requests promptly and provides
effective services or solutions for customers.
