Pharmacist – Full-time Float (Salaried)

PURPOSE
Efficiently manage the operations of the pharmacy, provide prescription product and appropriate service and consultation to every guest, and supervise pharmacy technicians, grad interns and clerks in compliance with federal and state laws and store policies and procedures.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
– Takes all steps required to fill prescriptions in compliance with all laws, regulations, and company policies and procedures regarding the sale of pharmaceuticals including: retrieves the product(s); counts; pours, or measures out the required quantity according to established company methods and procedures; affixes the label permanently to the container; and performs a final audit of the prescription.
– Assists with and responds in a courteous and professional manner in accordance with our guest service guidelines to questions from guests and physicians in regards to knowledge of prescription and health related products and issues.
– Offers advice and professional consultation in compliance with state and federal laws and regulations.
– Is trained and proficient and actively participates in clinical programs.
– Responds to telephone requests from guests (patients), physicians and vendors, which require the expertise of the pharmacist.
– Communicates and cooperates with peers, subordinates, managers, physicians, and guests (patients) in all pharmacy related areas.
– Ensures timely implementation of company policies, procedures and programs; and enforces professional and operational standards, including compliance with legal regulations.
– Maintains all state and federal record keeping for controlled substances.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS UNDER CERTAIN CIRCUMSTANCES
– Accepts the written prescription or refill information from guests (patients) confirms completeness of patient and requests missing information as appropriate, and retrieves the guests pharmacy record(s) for verification.
– Accesses the pharmacy computer to obtain complete patient record (on both cash and third party prescriptions) and verifies third party plan parameters.
– Orders product form distribution center or other appropriate source as necessary.
– Stocks pharmacy product orders to specific bay locations.
– Trains pharmacy technicians and abides by state regulations regarding technician training and licensure.
– Provides feed back on pharmacy technician/clerk performance, and amplifies their professional understanding of their role in the pharmacy.
– Maintains inventory levels to company goals, rotates stock, and utilizes MD return process.
– Executes daily reports
– In pharmacies with a cash register:
– Operates guest sales register by processing individual guest purchases over the scanner or utilizing a scan gun; accurately reads and records prices for items which will not scan.
– Totals guest order; collects cash, checks, credit cards, gift certificates, and coupons from guests; and enters amount and type of payment in accordance with established company policies and procedures.
– Accurately counts out appropriate change to guest.
– Bags all products and affixes the receipt to the bag and places company stickers on items, which are not in bags.
– Adheres to Department Appearance Standards (DAS) and dress code standards; directs pharmacy team in maintaining the professional appearance of the pharmacy.
OTHER FUNCTIONS
– Knows the location of general over the counter merchandise.
– Completes all necessary inventory reports.
– Monitors third party profitability by implementing the proper processing of third party plans.
– Files paper and keeps pharmacy equipment and area cl
ean and organized.
– Ensures that bags and vials are replenished, and that trash is removed and floor is swept.
– Attends company meetings for purposes of training, coordinating plans, and communicating policies and pro edures.
– Performs competition price checks if requested.
– Performs other duties as requested by the Pharmacy Operations Team.
– Is responsible to maintain standards in the absence of the Pharmacy Manager/Head Pharmacist.
– Participates in all company sponsored programs.

JOB REQUIREMENTS
– Must have a college degree in Pharmacy (BS or Pharm D).
– Must pass the NAPLEX.
– Must pass State Law Board.
– Must hold a valid state license and carry it at all times.
– Must complete continuing education hours as required by law.
– Ability to readily adapt to changes in schedule specifications, and work priorities as the business needs demand.
– Ability to cooperate with others and work as part of a team.
– Must complete all required state, federal and company training programs. (i.e. HIPAA, I-pledge, etc.)
