Position Announcement
Utah Valley University is seeking an Adjunct Instructor – Social Work.
Summary of Responsibilities
Under administrative direction from the program director, department chairperson, and dean, non-practicum Adjunct Instructor – Social Work shall perform some or all of the following duties:
• Design and teach assigned course(s) in the program;
• Plan, prepare, and follow an approved course of study that includes measurable objectives for each course taught
• Prepare instructional materials (e.g., course outline, syllabus, evaluation, and homework activities such as quizzes, papers, and/or exams, visual aids for lecture content, handouts, etc.)
• Instruct students using appropriate teaching methods
• Evaluate learning using appropriate testing methods
• Maintain a student-oriented approach to education;
• Recommend students for advancement and graduation when requested
• Maintain accurate records involving student accountability, attendance, performance, and follow-up
• Submit accurate and timely reports when requested or required
• Assist the program director, faculty, and staff in maintaining an effective program
• Serve on committees, and attend faculty and other meetings when invited
• Become thoroughly familiar with the academic freedom and professional responsibility statement, and adhere to these policies
• Maintain safe classroom conditions and interactions.
• Appropriate refers to OTL-recommended methods and best practices.
Qualifications / Licenses / Certifications
Graduation from a CSWE-accredited MSW program and two years of MSW practice experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Licensure as CSW or LCSW. Teaching experience in higher education.
