The Ames Federal Business Development Manager will be responsible for managing all business development activities for the Ames Federal business unit. Working closely with Ames Federal leadership, various units within the Ames Family of Companies, and other industry representatives, this role will be a key resource in developing new project leads, establishing new client relationships, as well as fostering and strengthening existing client relations within our key market segments.
Duties and Responsibilities
Assist with the development and execution of short and long-term strategic plans based on market conditions, trends and opportunities that will reach business goals and objectives.
Maintain and expand relationships with current clients, engineers, consultants, and other organizations.
Understand target markets including industry, project, and company contacts. Determine which market strategies can be used to attract potential clients and then create a plan for engagement.
Support Project Managers and Superintendents on current contracts, including attending project meetings to strengthen relationships with owners and owners representatives.
Track and report results of growth initiatives, sharing insights and experience to recommend any changes moving forward.
Communicate with Ames Federal Leadership on current project statuses and relationships. Discuss potential projects and work together to develop strategies for success.
Act as a company ambassador by attending industry, political and community functions.
Work closely with other corporate functions, such as Marketing and Sales, to understand business requirements and market needs.
Responsible for managing data on opportunities, clients, and pursuits in the Ames CRM database.
Ensure compliance with CMMC, FAR, and Accounting Standards in all Ames Federal efforts
Other duties as assigned.
Experience, Education and Skills
Five or more years of construction or engineering direct sales or business development experience, preferably in Federal markets.
Associates Degree in Business, Engineering or Construction Management, or equivalent experience.
Proven ability to establish relationships with decision makers, based on trust and integrity.
Demonstrated ability to secure new work and clients.
Knowledge and understanding of construction, development and design.
Strong negotiation skills.
Ability to adapt and learn in a changing work environment.
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
Excellent communication and presentation skills, both verbal and written.
Experience CRM software preferred.
