About the Team
The Risk & Insurance team at DoorDash is responsible for all corporate insurance at the company. We are a growing and exciting function that helps DoorDash manage risk with a close focus on our bottom line. The team is divided into multiple subgroups: Actuarial, Claims Operations, and Risk Management. We are looking for individuals eager to help shape this evolving team and collaborate with our DoorDash partners.
About the Role
DoorDash is seeking an experienced Insurance Claims Supervisor to join its Corporate Risk and Insurance function within the Finance and Strategy team. As a Claims Supervisor, you will oversee a group of Claims Specialists and handle a light load of assigned claims during periods of high volume. To excel in this role, you should prioritize customer service. A key aspect of this position will involve mentoring and creating tailored coaching plans for each specialist to ensure that our communication is efficient and personalized. Additionally, you will need to be available for claims consultations and discussions. You will collaborate with external insurance carrier partners and third-party claims administrators worldwide, so you should be adaptable and comfortable providing feedback, conducting audits, and implementing new processes. Since this is a newly established department, you will have the opportunity to help develop a comprehensive strategy for claims handling at DoorDash.
You will report to the Insurance Claims Manager and work a hybrid schedule at our Tempe, AZ office.
The onboarding period for this role will be the first 4-6 weeks of employment. During onboarding, your work schedule will be Monday to Friday, and you will be required to come into the Tempe, AZ, office 4-5 days a week.
Once you have completed onboarding, your work schedule will be Tuesday through Saturday or Wednesday through Sunday. Based on your performance, you will be expected to come into the Tempe, AZ, office 3 to 4 days a week.

Ensure the recruitment, encouragement, motivation, mentoring, guidance, and oversight of employees.
Passion for Risk Management, Claim handling, and Customer Success Management.
Assess and allocate work volumes daily.
Work directly with carriers, TPAs, and brokers to provide performance feedback and track company-set OKRs.
Manage cross-functional partnerships with Global Support, Community Support, Merchant Support, and Internal Legal Teams.
Research complex problems, identify the root cause of the issue, and recommend corrective actions.
Review loss reports and supporting materials for workers compensation and occupational accidents.
Identify and advise management of trends and issues, recommend action, and inform management of new procedures and ideas for continuous process improvement.
Serving as the secondary level of appeal by addressing claimant concerns related to specific claims, procedural matters, or special requests.
Enjoy a hybrid work schedule.
Enter accurate data in CRMs, G-Suite, and related tools.
Manage multiple operating systems simultaneously.
Communicate with team members, stakeholders, and cross-functional partners.
Maintain a high level of confidentiality and ensure that sensitive information is not disclosed to unauthorized parties.

4 years of bodily injury claims handling experience.
2 years of frontline leadership experience in an high-volume insurance claims environment.
Experience handling high-priority escalations and working promptly to provide resolutions.
Positive outlook and optimism in the face of challenges and adverse situations
Will maintain a high level of confidentiality.
Lead by example, and willing to work on the day-to-day cases.
Familiar with operating in a fast-paced environment, subject to rapid change and uncertainty.
In-depth knowledge of Mac systems, Salesforce, and Google Suite products.
