As a vital member of our Bridge Team, you’ll have the opportunity to work on transportation projects in New Mexico and throughout the region. Our transportation projects include the design of new bridges, bridge widenings, rehabilitations, load ratings, and other transportation structures. Working with our talented Bridge Team, you’ll work to solve problems and challenges in a team environment where everyone is valued. As a self-motivated professional, you will work on bridge projects of various sizes and complexity under the guidance of experienced engineers and project managers.

In this role you will:

• Support the development of projects from conceptual design through preliminary, intermediate, and final design phases and through construction

• Assist in the development of specifications, cost estimates, and preparation of final bid packages

• Develop sketches and markups for calculation packages and to provide to CADD Technicians

• Work with CADD Technicians to develop bridge details and plan sets

• Compile Bridge Type Selection Reports

• Coordinate bridge layouts, details, and constraints with other disciplines including Roadway, Drainage, and Survey

• Support bridge/structural tasks under on-call contracts

• Identify creative and innovative bridge engineering solutions based on client, project, and site constraints

• Perform calculations, assemble calculation packages, and provide bridge load ratings

• Coordinate with a team to meet project milestones

• Perform construction site visits

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering

• P.E. licensure in New Mexico or another state with the possibility of reciprocity for NM P.E. licensure within 6 months

• At least 4 years of bridge, structural, civil, and/or construction experience

• Strong written and oral communication skills and a team-oriented attitude

• Proficiency using bridge/structural analysis and design software

• Strong technical skills and a thorough understanding of bridge/structural technical standards

• Familiarity with AutoCAD Civil3D and/or Microstation

• Familiarity with bridge construction including site visits, construction inspection, or similar experience

Ideally, You’ll Also Have:

• New Mexico P.E. licensure

• Master’s Degree in Structural Engineering with bridge-related coursework

• Bridge/structural design experience including precast concrete, cast-in-place concrete, and structural steel

• Bridge construction experience including site visits, construction submittal reviews, and construction inspection

• Bridge inspection experience and/or National Bridge Inspection Standards (NBIS) certification or training

• Bridge load rating experience

• Working knowledge and experience with AutoCAD Civil3D using NMDOT CADD standards

• Existing relationships with NMDOT and/or other relevant agencies

• Design-Build (DB) experience

• Ability and willingness to travel on occasion
