Job Description
Facilities Development and Management, Facilities Management Knowledge Enterprise (KE) Facilities Services, Macro Technology Works (MTW), seeks a Semiconductor Gas/Chemical/LSS Hazmat Technician Specialist. The candidate will conduct facility and equipment hazardous materials operations related to gas, chemicals, and life safety systems under the direction of the Hazardous Materials supervisor and in coordination with the facility director.
Key Responsibilities:
– Perform daily inspections and maintenance of hazardous waste areas, bulk gas systems, gas cabinets, gas wall panels, and valve manifold boxes (VMBs).
– Complete chemical inventory and product acceptance.
– Forecast usage requirements for lab/fab research chemicals.
– Receive hazardous materials deliveries as needed.
– Recommend component and system improvements consistent with current technology.
– Collect, transport, segregate, accumulate, install, test, and dispose of hazardous waste, gases, and chemicals.
– Determine proper disposal based on hazard classes and compatibility of chemicals.
– Maintain records and databases on all accumulated gases, chemicals, and hazardous waste streams.
– Ensure the Safety Work Permit (SWP) program is followed.
– Maintain logs and records of SWPs issued.
– Perform LO/TO on all valves of gas cabinets, inert gas panels, and fabs point of connection for all gases.
– Perform operational sustaining maintenance to all Toxic Gas Monitoring Systems (TGMS).
– Coordinate and schedule required outside service on the site TGMS.
– Retain overall management of the TGMS.
– Generate and maintain documentation and record keeping meeting environmental regulations.
– Advise faculty, staff, and students regarding proper waste management techniques.
– Act as a contributing member of the site emergency response team.
– Provide input for planning and responding to chemical and gas emergencies.
– Remain current with required safety training.
– Present educational or training sessions regarding hazardous materials and waste management.
– Conduct hazard assessments and safety reviews.
– Order and verify PPE for proper function and replace as needed.
– Participate in the on-call rotation for site call-out alarms or faults.
– Respond to all building alarms related to gas, chemical, and life safety systems 24/7 with a 1-hour response time.

Work Site
This is a fully on-site position in Tempe, Arizona.
Work Environment
Current team of 3, needs to eventually get to 6. Proper PPE includes booties, clean room gown, safety glasses, and ear plugs.
