This 12 month position (part-time / 20 hours per week) reports to the Director of Extended Learning, Innovation, and Teaching Excellence and is a member of the team that is the first point of contact for online students. The Online Success Coach is a primary contact for online students seeking help navigating their academic experience at the College. As a key member of the students success network, the coach provides just-in-time academic coaching assistance, actively partners with support staff throughout the campus, and promotes community building through the Online Student Lounge hosted in Teams. A strong candidate will enjoy talking with students, building success plans, and bringing ideas forward to promote strong affinity with the college and success in online learning.
Duties:
- Caseload will consist of students from online programs with assigned success coach.
- Promote consistency of coaching support while at Alfred State contributing to retention initiatives.
- Students will receive myLearning (Brightspace) and academic success support from the coach.
- Participate in collaborative efforts between Admissions Counselors, Advisors, and Student Records and Financial Services create and make recommendations to revise workflows and processes to support online students.
- Provide direct outreach through communication plans to students using the ASC defined risk ratings and communication strategies associated with the risk rating.
- Participate in development of materials to support fostering a caring community for online students using ASC supported technology.
- Provide evening and weekend hours as needed to support non-traditional online students in their academic endeavors.
- Maintain the Center for Online Learning Coaching Manual.
- Engage in department meetings and activities to contribute to the ELITE team.
Job Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree and/or 2 years of academic success coaching experience
- Flexible work hours including some evenings and weekends
- Demonstrated ability to communicate via phone, text, email, and/or virtual meetings

The bi-weekly salary for this position will be $1000.
