Adult Educator (Allegany County Jail)

The Adult Educator (AE) is responsible for the adult basic education, GED and/or English as a Second Language program planning, curriculum development and student-centered planning and delivery. This AE posting is for our Alleghany county Jail program. The AE will develop, coordinate, and ensure quality implementation of all grant program short and long term goals and objectives. The successful candidate will be a proven leader who understands the importance of analyzing data to inform thought and decision-making. (S)he will be a dedicated professional that constantly seeks improved ways of approaching the work so that Literacy West NY can better serve our community members and partners. The AE reports to the designated program manager.

Bachelors degree with 2 years of experience working with youth, adult or those with special needs. Strong classroom management skills desired.
Ability to successfully pass all background check requirements.
Experience within the educational field, social work, a strong desire to work in and with the youth a must;
Ability to think through problems outside of conventional structures and find ways to continuously improve results;
Knowledge of and sensitivity to issues prevalent in underserved communities and students;
Superior interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite(Word, Excel, Powerpoint) and Outlook.
A valid, clean Drivers License with reliable transportation are desirable.
A willingness to travel to perform the duties of the position and for professional development.
