Position summary

Successful Candidate will administer and provide functional support for multiple areas of Human Resources across our Ithaca based campus, including but not limited to Collective Bargaining, Contract administration, Strategic Labor Relations, HR compliance, employee relation, performance management, and Grievance Administration. They will facilitate a collaborative environment and implements appropriate change management initiatives and provide support the business through the consistent application of HR policies and practices. Specialist will demonstrate advanced competency for trouble-shooting and problem solving, and advanced customer and negotiations skills.

Key responsibilities

Lead upcoming Union negotiations team through bargaining in September

Lead grievance process and second step meetings.

Provide strategic planning with assistance of operations, human resources and other support

Consult with employees and managers to address root causes of human resources issues, attempting to resolve employee relations issues with a systematic approach

Coach managerial staff on interpretation and application of relevant HR law, policies, procedures and programs

Works closely with management in the implementation of corporate and campus policies related to human resources and employee development

Recommend employee relations practices necessary to establish a positive employer-employee relationship and promote a high level of employee morale and motivation

Recommend new approaches, corrective actions, and updates to policies and procedures to effect continual improvements in efficiency of department and services performed. Assists with the administration and implementation of the same

HRIS input and reporting monthly, quarterly and ad hoc metrics and reports

Coordinate and conducts internal training programs and evaluates effectiveness

Assist with the development of new programs and initiatives

Participate in and/or leads employee activities and sponsored events

Participate in and/or leads special group projects as required

Responsible for completing required safety and environmental training, reporting and correcting any unsafe practices as appropriate, completing work activities in a safe manner, and complying with safety and environmental requirements for respective position.

Compensation and benefits

Salary range from $85,000 – $125,000 based on experience
