Mechanical Designer
System One
We are seeking an experienced Senior Piping Designer to join our engineering team in Pittsburgh, PA. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in piping design, with proficiency in 3D CAD software.
Responsibilities:
Lead the design and drafting of piping systems for midstream measurement projects, focusing on pipeline and compression systems.
Utilize AutoCAD, Plant3D Mechanical, and Vault for high-pressure piping design, P&ID, and site layouts.
Collaborate with engineering teams to develop efficient and cost-effective piping design solutions for industrial projects, including steel mills, coal, and power generation industries.
Oversee the design and drafting of mechanical piping systems for water, wastewater, and gas industry projects.
Conduct electrical drafting for panel construction and assist in the design of process piping and chemical pump houses.
Inspect construction projects, particularly those involving sanitary sewer systems, to ensure compliance with project specifications and quality standards.
Provide leadership and guidance to a team of designers and draftsmen, ensuring high-quality work and adherence to project deadlines.
Engage with clients, contractors, and public officials, representing the company’s interests in meetings and discussions.
Prepare detailed drawings for erosion and sedimentation control, site designs, and piping layouts for various industrial projects.
Stay current with industry trends and continue self-training on relevant software tools.
Requirements:
Associate Degree in a relevant field (e.g., Mechanical Design, Drafting, or related discipline).
Extensive experience in piping design, with a focus on mechanical and industrial projects.
Proficiency in AutoCAD (including Plant3D and Vault) and other relevant design software.
Strong background in P&ID, high-pressure piping design, site layout, and mechanical piping systems.
Proven ability to manage and lead a team of designers and draftsmen.
Excellent communication skills and experience in client and contractor interactions.
Strong attention to detail and ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
Experience with Autodesk Inventor or other 3D modeling software.
Previous experience in the water/wastewater, gas, or industrial sectors.
Familiarity with municipal project planning, construction estimation, and site inspection.
