The Bureau of Health Statistics and Registries Division of Vital Records is seeking a Clerical Assistant 3 to support our mission of administering the vital events registry. DESCRIPTION OF WORK
In this position, your primary function will be to provide customer service to the public, funeral directors, physicians, hospital records staff, coroners, and others requesting information on accessing services related to issuance of vital records certified copies or vital events data. You may be required to record calls and information into a software application for tracking and analysis, as well as offer alternatives to speaking and listening in the English language such as a translator or TTY/text. In order to assist consumers, you will utilize various specialized computer programs to search and verify birth requests. You will also review online order requests from applicants to ensure they meet eligibility standards. In this role, it is crucial to provide the most accurate, comprehensive, and unbiased information. Additionally, you may assist in providing training to new employees on tasks associated with their job duties and cross-train co-workers.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
– Full-time employment (37.50-hour work week)
– Work hours are 10:30 AM to 6:30 PM, Monday – Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
– Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) full-time. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in New Castle. This position requires a minimum of two weeks of on-site training.
– Salary:In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
– One year as a Clerical Assistant 2 (commonwealth title); or
– One year of moderately complex clerical experience; or
– An equivalent combination of experience and training.
