ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Controller to join our finance team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and analyzing the costs associated with our emerging manufacturing processes, ensuring accuracy in cost reporting, and providing insights to enhance financial performance. This role requires a deep understanding of cost accounting principles, strong analytical skills, and the willingness to dive into the details to create the framework for a strategic plan. The controller has a unique opportunity to join an established organization in the early stages of expansion in the pre-fabrication and manufacturing environment.
Cost Analysis and Reporting:
Collect, analyze, and report on the costs of manufacturing processes, including raw materials, labor, and overhead.
Prepare detailed cost reports and variance analyses to make decisions that improve financial health and operational efficiency.
Develop and maintain standard costing systems for accurate cost tracking and management.
Inventory Management:
Monitor and reconcile inventory levels, ensuring accurate valuation and reporting of inventory.
Oversee regular physical inventory counts and investigate discrepancies.
Prepare periodic inventory reserves reconciliation and analyze inventory for risk.
Budgeting and Forecasting:
Assist in the preparation of budgets and financial forecasts, providing insights into cost trends and future expenses.
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual cost forecasts and reports for management review.
Cost Control and Improvement:
Analyze changes in product design, raw materials, manufacturing methods, or services to determine their impact on costs.
Recommend and implement cost-saving initiatives and process improvements to enhance profitability.
Collaborate with engineering and production teams to update and maintain accurate Bills of Materials (BOMs).
Strategic:
Partner with operational and financial leaders to drive investment in new software, equipment and personnel that support rapid growth in product types and markets.
Identify market opportunities within our current business lines and support expansion.
Financial Reporting and Compliance:
Ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and company policies.
Support month-end and year-end closing processes, including account reconciliations and financial analysis.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
CPA or CMA certification is preferred.
Minimum of 8-12 years of experience in manufacturing cost accounting environment increasing responsibilities.
Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems and experience with implementations.
Advanced Excel skills, including VLOOKUPs, pivot tables, and data analysis.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

This job operates in a professional office environment.
This role regularly uses standard office equipment such as computers, cell phones, filing cabinets, photocopiers and fax machines.
This position requires the ability to lift file folders and open file cabinets.
Employees are frequently required to sit, stand, and occasionally required to bend, kneel, reach, stoop, or crouch.
This position may occasionally lift up to 10 pounds.
