This job is a member of the Corporate Security Team within the Corporate Affairs Division.
Responsible for conducting and coordinating investigations for transnational threats to include narcotic smuggling events, and implementing narcotic preventive strategies, while protecting the customers, employees, and corporate assets of the airline.
This job also acts as a primary liaison with industry and government security agencies related to law enforcement and regulatory affairs that effect or may affect employees, customers, operations and assets system wide.
What youll do
Serves as American Airlines (AA) subject matter expert (SME) with internal and external stakeholders and is the Corporate Security representative on all matters involving transnational threats and crime
Leads a team that deploys and supervises contractors in the delivery of tactical countermeasures to mitigate transnational threats
Oversees a multi-state, multi-airport, multi-million-dollar narcotics detection canine service contract program
Responsible to develop, track, and deliver on goals and objections, and key performance indicators (KPI) to measure success of transnational threat countermeasures
Creates annual budget, capital plan, and project plans
Owns the corporate anti-narcotic smuggling strategy that guides AAs efforts and capacity to prevent team members, contractors and assets from being used to smuggle narcotics
Partners with internal and external business partners to develop and implement anti-narcotics smuggling policies, procedures and countermeasures to detect and prevent narcotic smuggling across the AA enterprise
Prepares and delivers briefings and reports to leaders across the company on narcotic smuggling trends, incidents, investigations and open source intel collections
Builds new and leverages existing relationships with U.S. and foreign law enforcement and industry partners
Represents AA as an expert in meetings and forums with U.S. and foreign regulators, task forces, law enforcement and agency officials, other companies and trade associations
Conducts investigations, gathers and prepares evidence to identify and eliminate insider threats related to drug smuggling and other criminal activity
Moderate to extensive travel required

Minimum Qualifications – Education & Prior Job Experience
Bachelor’s degree in relevant field or equivalent experience in a related field
5 years of experience supervisory/management
Preferred Qualifications – Education & Prior Job Experience
20 years’ experience in law enforcement or military service
10 years’ experience in narcotic investigations
U.S. Southern Command (SOUTHCOM) component command unit counter-drug operations or counter-drug task force experience
Preferred field of study criminal justice
Bilingual with Spanish preference
Previous anti-narcotics work experience in the Caribbean or South/Center America
Skills, Licenses & Certifications
Knowledge of Microsoft Office
Strong analytical skill including the ability to research, analyze and present investigative findings
Strong attention to detail
Strong interpersonal skills
Ability to work in a fast paced and rapidly changing environment
Ability to pass criminal history check to obtain necessary access media to perform duties
