The Project Manager for our Craft Force division provides overall administrative and technical direction, enforces company and project policies, main client interface, and ensures project is constructed in accordance with design, budget, and schedule through a team.
Essential Functions include:
Technical Knowledge & Expertise
Demonstrates high level of technical knowledge of commercial construction, contracts, and other construction documents and specifications
Ability to read and understand details of an owner contract, subcontract, purchase orders, and other agreements
Demonstrated experience in two or more sides of business (e.g., engineer, field superintendent, estimator, purchasing).
Ability to write project scope for most trades to avoid overlap
Demonstrates strong knowledge of project financials
Successfully handles most aspects of SPA type assignments
Demonstrates strong understanding of risk management and safety
Demonstrates understanding and execution of safety planning for risk avoidance
Project & Contract Management
Capable of creating and tracking PCO Log (through appropriate project management system)
Ability to negotiate change order issues
Prepares and manages small and large schedules
Handles significant contractors and assignments with maturity
Ability to manage cost events and expedite solutions to avoid claims
Demonstrates understanding of contract differences and can effectively manage them
Independently handles purchasing/buyout
Customer Service & Relationship Management
Demonstrates a high level of customer service
Demonstrates understanding of the importance of serving internal and external customers
Maintains positive and professional interactions with owners/customers
Demonstrates a strong sense of accountability on both small/simple and larger/complex projects
Demonstrates adaptability and flexibility (e.g., willing to travel, reprioritize schedule)
Leadership & Teamwork
Demonstrates the ability to work well within a team and shows a high level of leadership
Takes the lead role for specific duties on moderately complex assignments
Displays initiative, leadership, and independent thinking within assignment guidelines
Demonstrates strong sense of accountability on projects
Maintains a positive professional demeanor among peers and colleagues
Demonstrates ability to professionally and productively handle confrontation
Profitability & Financial Management
Displays actions related to profitability; understands and implements profitable procedures
Demonstrates strong knowledge of project financials
Additional responsibilities include:
Front end job set up
Material Procurement
Rental Procurement
Direct communication with Foreperson, Superintendent and Operations Manager
Scheduling and ordering items based on lead times
Continues building industry knowledge through related training (e.g., LEED AP, PE, etc.)
Supervises staff
Site safety walks
Documenting site conditions
We’re looking for someone who has:
Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management or related industry degree and 5 years commensurate experience
Completed OSHA 10-hour training
Strong analytical and problem-solving ability
Strong work ethic and team building skills
Proven knowledge of scheduling techniques and the programs used to generate them
Working knowledge of MS Office suite and other industry/company related programs
Strong understanding of safety in the construction environment
Understanding of importance of project insurance(s)
Proven written and verbal communication skills
