This Lead Engineer has a high potential to become a future leader in composites. Activities include supporting and contributing to the design and development of the RISE Ducted Program, solutions and systems for polymer composites. This role will impact quality, efficiency and effectiveness of this Fan Advanced Mechanical Design (AMD) Team and will have input into the teams priorities. This role shall be guided by professional practices and policies of GE Aerospace that are shaped by the role. The role has some autonomy but more focused on execution of activities within an operating discipline covered by standard functional practices and procedures. Some judgment may be required but this is typically with guidance. This role will specifically start out by designing composite hardware, maintaining any needed rigs/tests, and owning Ducted flowpath composite hardware through the design review process and manufacturing of the prototypes required to deliver hardware for future ducted demonstrators.

Roles and Responsibilities

Conceptual or theoretical activities related to the principles of engineering, physics, and materials science for the design, analysis, manufacturing, and maintenance of mechanical systems. Includes the analysis of static (structural) and dynamic (rotor dynamics, vibrations) behavior of mechanical systems

Developing in-depth knowledge of a technical discipline. Uses prior experience and acquired technical expertise to execute policy/strategy.

In-depth understanding of key business drivers; uses this understanding to accomplish own work. In-depth understanding of how work of own team integrates with other teams and contributes to the area.

Uses some level of judgment and has ability to propose different solutions outside of set parameters but with guidance. Uses prior experience and on-the-job training to solve straightforward tasks. Has access to technical skills and analytic thinking required to solve problems. May use multiple internal sources outside of own team to arrive at decisions.

A job at this level is likely to be an individual contributor with proven interpersonal skills or an early people leader who can hire and develop talent. Provides informal guidance to new team members

Required Qualifications

Bachelors degree in engineering from an accredited university or college

Minimum of 3 years of experience in disciplinary engineering and science

Desired Characteristics

Experience in aeromechanics, composites design or turbomachinery airfoil design.

Strong oral and written communication skills.

Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems.

Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs.

Established project management skills.

This role requires access to U.S. export-controlled information. If applicable, final offers will be contingent on ability to obtain authorization for access to U.S. export-controlled information from the U.S. Government.
