SUMMARY
Washes, folds, stores, inventories, and issues or distributes hotel bed and table linen, towels, and uniforms by performing the following duties.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Collects or receives, and segregates, counts, and records number of items of hotel soiled linen and uniforms for repair or laundry, and places items in containers.
Washes, dries, and folds hotel linens.
Uses all chemicals and tools according to the instruction provided to prevent injury, accident, unnecessary damage or waste.
Examines hotel laundered items to ensure cleanliness and serviceability.
Stamps items with identifying marks.
Stores laundered items on shelves, after verifying numbers and types of items.
Counts and assembles laundered items on cart or linen truck, records amounts of linens and uniforms to fill requisitions, and transports carts to floors.
Conducts inventories to identify items for replacement.
Keeps linen room in clean and orderly condition.
May be required to clean guestrooms, bathrooms, public areas as specified by standards to include but not limited to: changing and making beds, cleaning, dusting, removing trash, replenishing supplies and vacuuming.
Ensures the security of guests by following key control policies.
Greets guests in a warm, friendly manner to ensure guest satisfaction.

These policies include dress code, safety and performance standards. Employees must also maintain a professional image and report to work as scheduled.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands to handle, grasp or type; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, bend or twist; and to push, pull or lift over 10 pounds. The employee is occasionally required to walk, climb or balance, talk or hear, and smell. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: No specific knowledge, education or training required to accomplish the essential functions of this job.
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read some two- and three syllable words and to recognize similarities/differences between words and numbers. Ability to print and/or to speak simple sentences.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to read, write and recognize numbers, comprehend signs and symbols.
REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple instructions.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to fumes or airborne particles and regularly works with moving mechanical parts such as washers, dryers and mangle irons; and toxic or caustic chemicals (such as bleach). The employee is frequently exposed to temperature extremes from heat in laundry area and temperature of hotel and extreme heat from dryers and hot water and frequently works with power equipment such as washers and dryers. The employee is occasionally exposed to mild risk of electrical shock and blood-borne pathogens. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
