Primary Role Inspects, tests, repairs, maintains and operates hydrants, valves, water mains and other facilities and equipment within the distribution system to assure efficient and reliable operation with minimal interruption of water service to customer. Key Accountabilities Locates, inspects, operates and maintains valves in the distribution system. Locates, inspects, operates and maintains water mains in the distribution system. Locates, inspects, operates and maintains hydrants in the distribution system. Conducts leak detection on water mains, hydrants, valves and services to reduce lost water. Conducts distribution system flushing program. Performs hydrant flow test to monitor system flows and pressures. Replaces or installs water main facilities and equipment as required to maintain the distribution system. Qualifies as a Competent Person per OSHA guidelines. Attends company training or outside training classes as assigned. Performs other duties as assigned. Knowledge/Skills Knowledge of safety concerns associated with trenching and shoring, and other OSHA regulations. Knowledge of basic hydraulics. Must be computer proficient. Experience/Education High school diploma or state recognized Educational Equivalency.
