Job Purpose: The primary purpose of the Mechanical Design Engineer at Nordic Components is to drive the design and development of high-quality firearm components and accessories. This role is crucial in ensuring that products are not only innovative and functional but also manufacturable and efficient to produce. The engineer will leverage their expertise in mechanical design, particularly with metals and CNC machining, to create detailed designs using SolidWorks. They will also play a key role in improving existing products and processes, ensuring that Nordic Components maintains its reputation for excellence in the firearms industry. Key Responsibilities: • Create detailed mechanical designs using SolidWorks, ensuring they meet project specifications and standards. • Evaluate designs for manufacturability and functionality, making necessary adjustments to optimize production processes. • Identify and implement improvements to existing designs and processes to enhance efficiency and product quality. • Engage with customers to understand their requirements and provide technical support as needed. • Design tooling and fixtures to support assembly processes. Preferred Skills and Qualifications: • Experience: 3-5 years of experience in mechanical design, preferably with metals or CNC machining. • Proficient in SolidWorks. • Experience in designing fixtures for manufacturing processes. • Proven track record in product development from concept to production. • Strong understanding of design for manufacturability principles. • Experience working within a CNC machining environment. Additional Skills: • Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail. • Excellent communication and teamwork skills. • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
