Foundational Hosting Platform (FHP) is the Center of Excellence for database management within Wells Fargo. This position provides senior level capabilities relative to database engineering for the company. Database Middleware and Engineering (DME) sets database strategy by engineering the design, development, and operations of our database software/systems.
The Database Middleware and Engineering (DME) – SQL Server Team is seeking a Database Senior Engineer with focus on automation solutions. Experience using Public Cloud Azure Managed Instance and Azure SQL Database is desired. This position will play a senior level role in streamlining, planning, designing, implementing, and managing the SQL Server database platform via scripting and automation. The ideal candidate will possess cross-functional skills and thrive in an Agile environment.
This position will interface with service delivery teams, application teams, and other DBA teams within FHP to support and deliver automation services. The successful candidate must be comfortable working on multiple dynamic projects simultaneously in an Agile environment, collaborating with database engineers, database architects, project managers, application teams, information security teams, and leadership at all levels of the organization.
In this role, you will:
Lead or participate in database management activities including designing highly complex logical and physical databases
Lead or participate in database migration activities between data centers
Lead highly complex data modeling, mapping, integration, and capacity planning efforts
Perform the planning, research, design, implementation, maintenance, and control of server class databases
Design and implement security solutions including Center for Internet Security benchmarks and auditing
Design and certify next generation database technologies
Consult with and advise management and multiple clients on high impact data or database management issues, influencing strategic direction
Provide technical leadership and recommendation into the future direction of database technology
Develop management policies, procedures, standards, and best practices
Collaborate and consult with peers, colleagues and managers to resolve issues and achieve goals
Provide technical consultation and support in the development of automation solutions
Translate requirements into code for new or existing solutions and projects
Work closely with existing database development staff to complete tasks
Work closely with other teams to understand and document requirements
Ability to troubleshoot and validate data query results
Ability to work with a team as well as be a self-starter
Developing original, intricate solutions and simplifying when feasible to improve maintainability
Participate in system and user acceptance testing tasks as assigned
Assure quality, security, and compliance requirements are met
Participate in an on-call rotation if needed
Required Qualifications:
4 years of Database Engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
3 years of database design and administration experience
3 years of MS SQL Server experience
2 years of PowerShell scripting experience

Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
Experience using JIRA with Agile methodologies for tracking user stories or backlogs
Experience with Agile Scrum (Daily Standup, Sprint Planning, and Sprint Retrospective meetings) and Kanban
Experience with Public Cloud Azure SQL Managed Instance and Azure SQL Database
Experience with SQL Server Enabled by Azure Arc
Experience using GitHub for version control and collaboration
Experience using Nutanix Database Service (NDB) with SQL Server
Experience using Rubrik Backup and Recovery with SQL Server
Experience with SQL Server encryption technologies including Extensible Key Management (EKM)
Experience with Power BI
Experience with SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS)
Experience using Python for automation
Experience with application development and implementation
Experience designing and implementing process solutions for automation
Experience working with any type of automation framework (System Center Orchestrator, Ansible, HP Operations Orchestrator / HP Server Automation, VMware, vRealize)
Knowledge and understanding of relational database concepts, querying, requirements gathering, and/or decision support tools
The capability to write and interpret advanced SQL Queries
Passion for developing automated management of a large database environment
Knowledge and understanding of automation and engineering release development
Strong understanding of data loading and data cleansing principles
Experience with using APIs.
Knowledge and understanding of test-driven solutions development
Technical working knowledge of layered products, networking concepts and storage system architectures

Pay Range
Reflected is the base pay range offered for this position. Pay may vary depending on factors including but not limited to achievements, skills, experience, or work location. The range listed is just one component of the compensation package offered to candidates.
$84,000.00 – $149,400.00
