Job Summary This position requires skills and experience in the design and documentation of Mechanical systems. Work skills and discipline are required to complete specific engineering tasks and will work closely with other Engineering personnel. You will be utilizing multiple engineering skills including design of mechanical structures, motion systems and electrical/pneumatic controls systems for robotic mechanisms. The successful candidate must have a sense of accountability to ensure that equipment developed by IPG Systems is responsive to the needs of customers and delivered in a timely manner. Job Functions Design custom laser workstations including welded bases, sheet metal Enclosures, multi axial motion systems, laser beam delivery and machine vision assemblies, part fixturing/tooling, and part handling mechanisms to fit processes, and ergonomic requirements Design pneumatic control systems to fixture, manipulate and control the processing of parts within a workstation Proficient in the use of Cad design (SolidWorks & EPDM) including part & assembly modeling and drawing creation with a working knowledge of GD&T Create & maintain documentation associated with a project including engineering change orders, implementation of redlines, bills of material, detailed SolidWorks models and associated component/assembly drawings Need to be very creative with excellent attention to detail while working with different areas of custom laser workstation equipment Work closely with Project Managers to design the workstations to meet contractual requirements Support assembly technicians to ensure that machines and equipment are assembled and functioning according to specifications Need to have very good communication skills (written and oral), ability to facilitate design reviews with project team & customer Advanced Skills Optics and Vision design Structural and dynamic analysis Small part manipulation, alignment, and automation Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering Must possess superior engineering skills and be capable of interacting with all engineering disciplines 3 years of Mechanical Design experience in machine design, automation and part handling. 5 – 7 would be preferred.
