Fairview Range is hiring a Peer Recovery Specialist to join our care team at the Fairview Mesaba Clinic in Hibbing, MN.

A Peer Recovery Specialist is an individual with lived recovery experience who has been trained and certified to help peers gain hope and move forward in their own recovery. A Peer Recovery Specialist cultivates their peers ability to make informed, independent choices. The specialist helps their peers identify and build on their strengths while assisting peers in gaining information and support from the community to make their goals a reality. This position is a SAMSHA/MNDHS aligned position to support recovery using an integrative behavior health model, leveraging peers, social work care coordinators, therapist and medication assisted treatment to support individuals who want to recover from opioid use disorders.

Schedule: This position will work 40 hours per two weeks. The shift length will be 8-hours on the day/evening shift. Weekends: None

As a Peer Recovery Specialist, you will be responsible for:

Meet with clients on a regular basis, or as needed after the initial meeting, to discuss routine recovery issues from a peer perspective.

Provide direct assistance in the form of filling out forms or making phone calls and accompanying clients to appointments and court appearances.

Assist in finding necessary community services to meet basic needs.

Performs outreach and follow-up with non-residential program participants and help acclimate recovery clients to their new surroundings and explore recovery resources in the area.

Provide education about and attend self-help groups, obtaining sponsorship, and assisting clients in finding recovery support meetings that accommodate their schedules and childcare needs.

Role model behavior that is consistent with, and supportive of, people in recovery from chemical dependency, such behavior will include upholding ethical standards of the program and reliable attendance.

Provide basic personal assistance in the completion of daily living skills.

Assist in planning and supervising recreational activities for clients.

Maintain confidential client records.

Perform other routine support tasks, including filing, photocopying, answering telephones, and compiling statistical reports.

Attend clinical staff meetings as needed.

Required Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent.

Peer Support Specialist Certification through the MN Certification Board, or willing to obtain within 6 months of hire.

Documented free of chemical use problems for at least two (2) years immediately preceding hire.

Preferred Qualifications:

Some college courses in human services or related field.

Must be able to demonstrate an ability to be responsive in an effective manner, while maintaining a warm and supportive atmosphere.
