Job Summary
The Sustaining Stress Analysis Engineer works with the Liaison team to process production related non-conformances, reviews design changes, and works with the Airframe Stress group to maintain continuity of standard work within the stress discipline at Cirrus Aircraft.
Duties and Responsibilities/Essential Functions
Generate and review structural analysis of aircraft primary and secondary structures that includes: detail part sizing, and strength assessment of primary and secondary structure and systems installations, as well as correlation to test articles using classical hand analysis methods and FEA.
Responsible for stress analysis and test documentation generation and review. Includes test reports, design reports, test plans and test reports.
Complete project assignments and takes responsibility for designs and design outcomes.
Anticipates project tasks.
Provide guidance and task to younger structures engineers.
Recognized within engineering for structural technical competence.
Completes tasks as a member of the Material Review Board.
Upholds Cirrus’ standards relating to the design, manufacture, and inspection of aircraft and related equipment.
Qualifications

Minimum 4 year Degree in an engineering discipline
Strong working knowledge of aircraft structure, materials and manufacturing processes including composites
Candidate must have thorough understanding of load paths, stability of structures, and aircraft structural behavior. Knowledge of developing internal loads as well as component loads is required.
Classical hand analysis (including composite laminate plate theory)
Finite Element Analysis (Nastran preferred)
Knowledge of FAA Part 23 regulations for aircraft certification.
Methods for problem solving and analysis
Ability to demonstrate sound judgement and effective communication skills (written and verbal). Must be able to demonstrate ability to read, write and speak the English language.
