Applications received after that date may be considered until an adequate applicant pool has been established.The Smart Manufacturing Technician/Project Manager is responsible for the development of a one-year academic certificate program (30 credits) in Smart Manufacturing to be offered at Highlands College. This will include developing and conducting a needs assessment, developing and fostering partnership with industry partners, working with the Montana Manufacturing Extension Center and regional business advisors to develop and implement program.Duties:Work closely with regional business advisors to develop/conduct needs assessment;Develop strategic industry partnerships with Montana’s manufacturers;Work closely with Montana Manufacturing Extension Center (MMEC) and regional business advisors to develop an online Smart Manufacturing Technician one-year certificate based on needs assessment;Design and implement one-year certificate program;Develop strategic partnerships with machinery, automation, and technology providers that will benefit Montana’s manufacturers.Write and review reports, and track and report project progressDevelop appropriate educational materials and present public training workshops and technology demonstrations.Attend all required meetings with MMEC and the Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ).In collaboration with MMEC’s marketing team, write articles for newsletter as needed.Work closely with Highlands College team to foster an environment conducive to learning.Required Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology from an ABET accredited college or university, ORMinimum of 10 years’ demonstrated experience with progressively increasing levels of responsibility in improving manufacturing operations through digitization and automation.Preferred Qualifications:Demonstrated knowledge of mechanical systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, electrical systems, ladder logic, electronics, control systems, sensors, motors, industrial machinery design, PLC control systems, robotics, CNC machining, CAD/CAM, additive manufacturing, visual control systems and OSHA requirements.Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited college or university.
