The Oiler is responsible for a variety of tasks, such as maintenance and lubrication of machinery and equipment within the sawmill. This role ensures the smooth operation of the sawmill by performing routine inspections, and minor repairs to prevent breakdowns. The Oiler is crucial to our manufacturing process, we are looking for individuals with a strong work ethic and a willingness to contribute to the success of our plant operationsJOB QUALIFICATIONS:•Must be 18 years or older•Prior experience in machinery maintenance required•Experience in a sawmill or manufacturing environment preferred•Basic mechanical skills and understanding of machine operations•Ability to work independently and as part of a team.•Strong attention to detail, communication and problem-solving skills•Physical stamina and ability to lift heavy objects up to 50lbs •Willingness to work in varying temperatures and conditions•Able to pass pre-employment drug screen and abide by all company safety policiesJOB SUMMARY:Under the supervision of the Maintenance Foremen, the Oiler is responsible for regular oiling and greasing of all machinery in and around the mill. The Oiler assists the Millwrights with repairs and fabrication when required. The Oiler also performs regular maintenance and safety inspections of sawmill machinery. Works closely with Millwrights and Electricians.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:•Perform routine lubrication of machinery, including saw blades, conveyors, bearings and other equipment•Monitor oil levels and fluid conditions, replacing or replenishing as needed•Conduct regular inspections to identify potential mechanical issues or maintenance needs•Assist in minor repairs and adjustments to machinery as required•Ensure compliance with safety regulations and promote a safe working environment•Willingness to learn and take direction•maintain a clean work areaINFREQUENT/MARGINAL JOB FUNCTIONS•Fills in on mill production positions as necessary•Assists the Millwright in all repair and fabrication duties•Operates heavy equipment, uses hand tools, and uses welding equipment to accomplish repair and fabrication duties •Performs other duties as requiredPERFORMANCE STANDARDS•Demonstrates dependability and reliability in greasing and oiling 100% of equipment on a regular basis.•Demonstrates the ability to spot needed repairs and communicate them to proper personnel.•Demonstrates good performance, safety and attendance.•Demonstrates knowledge of and compliance with lock-out procedures.•Demonstrates the ability to communicate, cooperate and work effectively with supervisors and other employees.•Works well under pressure.Physical Demands and Work EnvironmentThe physical demands and work environment are representative of a typical sawmill environment. The employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts. Noise level is moderate to high depending on the area of the mill, ambient temperatures and wood waste / dust exposure while performing the duties of this job, the employee is often required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to grasp, lumber or machinery controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, and the ability to communicate with other personnel. Requires close vision, distance vision, and depth perception. The employee must occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds.
