Job Purpose:
Perform paint and styling duties for new and rebuild locomotives. The engineer in this role will implement customer designs to develop the locomotive paint and style application via 3D CAD designs and drawings for paint, road numbers, decals, stencils, and labels. This role will support multiple market segments worldwide.
Work involves independent judgement, decision making, and creativity. Management is available to provide additional guidance for unusual situations.

• BS Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial, Computer, or equivalent).

Key Job Elements:
• 3D CAD design in NX and Teamcenter, coordinating design and drafting work with other team members, writing design change requests and manufacturing change requests, working with suppliers to obtain technical data such as SDS and paint samples, and working with production facilities;
• Design responsibility of paint and styling applications for individual projects, with assistance from a senior engineer. Multiple projects will be worked simultaneously;
• Organize meetings with other internal team members and vendors as required;
• Ensure that all health, safety, legal and railroad regulatory (FRA, AAR, EN, AS/RISSB) requirements as defined are being implemented throughout the process;
• Travel as required.
Qualifications and Experience:
Required:
• Demonstrated analytical abilities where problems are very complex;
• Strong written and oral communication skills;
• Strong personal skills and the ability to work in groups;
• Familiarity with engineering processes and systems;
• Experience in a team environment.
Preferred:
• 1-3 years work experience as an engineer;
• Railroad, locomotive, or other transportation industry experience;
• Familiarity with railroad international standards and regulations (FRA, AAR, EN, AS/RISSB).
Essential and Physical Activities Functions
• Strength – Position typically involves work in an office environment with occasional visits to an industrial environment. Frequent/constant sitting. Occasional standing and walking. Occasional light to medium-
level lifting or carrying (up to 30 pounds);
• Motion – Position regularly requires standard motions associated with working in an office environment. Depending on assigned project, position may occasionally require motions involved in an industrial working environment, including some low to intense levels of pushing, pulling, climbing, balancing, crouching, stooping, kneeling, reaching, grasping;
• Vision/Hearing Requirements – Frequent verbal communications, including both talking and hearing;
• Work Environment – Position is typically located in an office environment with occasional visits to an industrial environment which may include a non-temperature-controlled environment, as well as exposure to noise (85 decibels), occasional exposure to temperature changes, heavy machinery and other hazardous working conditions requiring the use of PPE. Position may require travel as necessary, both domestic and international;
• Emotional Demands – High level of responsibility. Must be able to coordinate diverse aspects of a project. Requires significant interpersonal skills while sustaining very high standards;
• Safety – Position will occasionally require the use of Personal Protective Equipment during visits to industrial areas.
