Job Description

Utilize AutoCAD/ Civil 3D to create solid waste engineering design and permitting plans (landfills, transfer stations, and recycling facilities). Create full set engineering plans, including grading, landfill gas collection systems, landfill cell construction, infrastructure construction, storm water management, earthwork, erosion control, etc. Conduct occasional site visits and prepare CQA reports. Provide technical oversight to junior engineers. Work on a variety of projects from start to finish.

Work Site

This is a fully on-site position in Naperville, Illinois.

Work Environment

This position is open due to the team continuing to win projects in Illinois and needing to take workload off of the project manager. The company is based out of Michigan with about 50 employees. The Illinois office, located in Naperville, is one of their newer offices with about 2 Project Engineers and 2 Project Managers. They are looking to add a Project Engineer who can run their own projects from start to finish and eventually move into a PM role. This position is in the office all five days a week for the first 3-6 months, depending on tenure, but offers flexibility. Standard hours are from 8-5. The individual will have their own computer and workspace in the office. About 25% of the work will be on-site conducting CQA reports, requiring the use of a personal vehicle with mileage reimbursement and per diem for overnight travel. Sites can be in the Greater Chicagoland area to Minnesota. Occasional overnight stays are expected. The individual will be training under project managers and the VP, and will be able to accrue hours towards their PE. There is an opportunity to grow into a PM role, overseeing projects and mentoring junior staff. Annual salary reviews and bonuses are based on company performance. The individual could be working on 3-5 projects at a time, all in different phases. The company will pay for HAZWOPER maintenance fees.
