General Repair Technician I

BASIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

– Model core organizational beliefs and values; perform duties in an effective and efficient manner for the purpose of supporting and contributing to the achievement of district goals.
– Perform general maintenance on facilities and equipment.
– Repair/replace components of furniture, doors, windows, appliances, and other fixtures as directed.
– Operate tractors and mowers to maintain grounds; operate manual equipment such as shovels, diggers, wheel barrow, trimmers, saw and other equipment as necessary.
– Move furniture and set up for events and special classes/functions as directed.
– Assist in painting of facilities as directed.
– Assist electrician, plumber, and HVAC, as a labor helper.
– Operate forklift to off load equipment and supplies.
– Place stock on shelves and deliver as directed.
– Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties, including lifting, climbing, etc.
– Correct unsafe conditions in work area and report any conditions that are not correctable to supervisor immediately.
– Accurately report work hours using the time clock to report start and end times.
– Utilize effective communication skills; ensure that all interactions are supportive, courteous, and respectful.
– Comply with all policies, operating procedures, legal requirements, and verbal and written directives.
– Comply with the Employee Standards of Conduct.
– Perform other related duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
– None
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
– Ability to operate tractors and mowers
– Ability to operate shop equipment
– Ability to lift or manipulate heavy panels or electrical equipment
– Ability to climb tall ladders and work in tight places
Equipment Used:hand tools, electrical test meters, forklift, tractors, mowers, furniture dolly, sump pumps, water pumps, pipe wrenches, caulking gun, paint stripping machine, paint rollers and brushes
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Certification:
– High school diploma or equivalent
– Valid Texas drivers license with a record of safe driving
Experience:
– None
MENTAL/PHYSICAL/ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS:
– Lifting of 60 lbs.
– Frequent bending, standing, and crawling for access to areas under buildings
– Climbing ladders and scaffold to move equipment and tools needed for job location
– Work in all weather conditions
– May require overtime or shifted hours
– Frequent district-wide travel.
