Job Summary and Qualifications:
Under general supervision, supervises the activities of food service personnel engaged in the preparation and serving of meals. May occasionally have sole responsibility to open/close and supervise the food service department.
Essential Job Functions:
1. Maintains or exceeds department standards for accuracy, cost, appearance, quality, and timeliness.
2. Demonstrates, understands, and practices safe food handling techniques. Including dating/labeling, time/temperature measurements, correcting critical control issues. Demonstrates leadership, initiative, and creativity in working with the food service employees to achieve the daily goals and tasks.
3. Encourages a team- oriented environment that enhances productivity and morale and assigns staff to accomplish daily tasks and goals.
4. Corrects issues with food/equipment as quickly and appropriately as necessary to provide all customers with a quality product.
5. Completes all quality assurance, and performance improvement projects accurately and in a timely manner.

3. Must learn and comply with System and facility safety policies and rules; must use appropriate safety equipment and procedures at all times; must immediately report all unsafe conditions to supervisors; must be familiar with all safety features of equipment, tools or materials encompassed by job duties; and must check with supervisors (prior to job performance) if there is a question as to the safe procedure to be used for any job function.
4. Adheres to the MHS Code of Conduct and demonstrates ethical behavior as expected by our patients, colleagues and the community. Understands the personal obligation to report any activity that appears to violate applicable laws, rules regulations or the Code of Conduct itself.
5. Completes other duties as assigned.
Required Knowledge, Skill, Abilities and Other Job-Related Characteristics (KSAOs):
Minimum Education and Experience: 2 years food service experience required.
Minimum License and Certificates Required: Food Handlers permit or must obtain during the first two weeks of hire date.
