Position Description:

Employees in this classification are responsible for the performance of manual work involving the cleaning and care of buildings. Work is performed under supervision according to established procedures and methods, and is checked frequently and evaluated for the accomplishment of assigned tasks.

Major/Essential Functions:

Cleaning is done according to the standards set by the department. Proper methods and procedures should always be followed consistently in all areas.

Promotes and practices safety in the workplace.

Maintains an accident-free operation.

Uses and cares for equipment in a safe and proper manner.

Chemicals are used in a safe and proper manner to avoid waste or accidents.

Performs emergency cleanup of rooms, winter & summer camp cleanup, specialty floor or carpet cleaning, winter & summer break cleaning, weekend work schedule, and all related work as required.

Paying attention to detail in all areas.

Reports needed repairs and property damage.

Leaves work areas clean and orderly, including all work-related equipment, custodial closets, and break room areas.

Ability to perform physically demanding work for extended periods of time.

Based on the sports season, the ability to work mandatory overtime, including nights and weekends.

Must have a valid drivers license and two-year driving record acceptable to the university.

Comply with all NCAA, Big 12, and Texas Tech University rules, regulations, and policies.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in athletic facilities.

Knowledge of commonplace custodial practices.

At least one year of custodial experience.

Ability to learn materials, methods, and equipment used in assigned work.

Ability to operate cleaning equipment by following the correct procedures.

Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
