Position Description
The School of Theatre and Dance, within the Texas Tech University J.T. and Margaret Talkington College of Visual and Performing Arts, invites applications for a full-time, 9-month, tenured/tenure-track, Assistant Professor of Performing Arts Education. This position is for an innovative instructor of performing arts education, with a commitment to helping to guide the School of Theatre and Dances programs to national distinction and nurturing the next generation of educators enrolled in our undergraduate programs. The successful candidate will begin full service in the Fall of 2025.
The qualified candidate will teach undergraduate courses and undertake development and/or creation of an arts-based education training program, addressing needs of K-12 educational environments. The successful candidate will also be expected to contribute and collaborate on matters pertaining to curriculum, policy, and practice, as well as remain active in their field through adjacent scholarly/creative and service activities. The successful candidate will effectively mentor students across areas of research, process, and pedagogy, and participate in the schools formal advising process for undergraduate students and graduate students. The position also entails development of programs, curricula, degree plans, and certification programs, extending from a current Bachelor of Arts- Theatre Arts with Education Minor, participation in service activities at school, college, university-level, and beyond, potential service on dissertation or thesis committees, and embrace collegiality within and outside the school, particularly in building engaged partnerships.

About the College
The J.T. and Margaret Talkington College of Visual and Performing Artscomprises the School of Art, the School of Music, and the School of Theatre and Dance. With more than 120 faculty members and approximately 1,000 students, the College offers a comprehensive range of undergraduate and graduate degree programs, including the terminal M.F.A., D.M.A., and Ph.D. degrees. Our unique Ph.D. program in Fine Arts provides interdisciplinary education for students interested in engaging with multiple art forms or combining methodologies from the arts and sciences or arts and humanities. About the Department/School/Area
The School of Theatre and Danceis NAST accredited and offers the BA in Dance, BA in Theatre Arts; BFA in Theatre Arts: acting, design, musical theatre; BFA in Dance, MA in Dance Studies; MA in Theatre Arts; MFA in Theatre Arts: Arts Administration, Playwriting, Design, and Performance and Pedagogy; PhD. in Fine Arts with a Track in Theatre and multiple concentration options. A faculty of 22 full-time professors serve approximately 140 undergraduate students and 60 graduate students. Technical and administrative support includes a total of 8 staff positions. The Schools resources include a state-of-the-art facility which ope ed in January 2023, the nationally renowned Marfa and WildWind Performance Lab programs, and annual participation in the Tennessee Williams Festival. Major/Essential Functions
In line with TTUs strategic priorities to engage and empower a diverse student body, enable innovative research and creative activities, and transform lives and communities through outreach and engaged scholarship, applicants should have experience working with diverse student populations at the undergraduate and/or graduate levels within individual or across the areas of teaching, research/creative activity, and service.

Faculty Qualifications
A terminal degree in theatre, dance, education, or other closely related field.
A minimum of one year of experience teaching undergraduate courses in performance education, such as theatre for educators, classroom management/technology for performing arts specialists, performing art methodologies, and creative dramatics.
Minimum three years teaching experience in a PK-12 public/private school setting and appropriate state credentialing.
A demonstrated and ongoing commitment to equitable, inclusive, non-discriminatory pedagogy that serves diverse student populations as evidenced by the material contained in the philosophy of teaching statement and application materials.
