How will you make an impact?
We are seeking an experienced and innovative Senior Development Chemist with strong communication, leadership, technical and operational skills to lead and support the advancement of our polymer chemistry manufacturing processes. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of polymer chemistry, significant experience in process development, and a proven track record of driving process improvements in a manufacturing environment. This role involves providing technical support to the Resin Synthesis work center, leading complex projects, mentoring chemists, and collaborating across multiple departments to ensure the successful scaling and optimization of new and existing processes. You will also support the generation and review of batch records, technical summary documents to support the timelines of individual projects, and the investigation and documentation of any deviations in production. The scientist drives the implementation of new component systems, part changes, and other process related activities to support ongoing and new projects. This position will also help the production team in implementing manufacturing protocols and performing in-process testing of products. The candidate will follow SOPs and work in compliance with safety, regulatory and quality guidelines.
What you will do:
Lead the development and optimization of polymer chemistry processes to improve product quality, yield, and manufacturing efficiency.
Supervise the scale-up of new processes from R&D to full-scale production, ensuring seamless technology transfer and process integration.
Serve as the go-to expert for solving sophisticated process issues, providing high-level support to manufacturing teams.
Develop and implement troubleshooting methodologies to address process deviations, equipment failures, and product non-conformities.
Lead and manage multiple process development projects, from initial feasibility through to implementation, ensuring timelines and objectives are met.
Coordinate multi-functional teams, including R&D, engineering, quality, and production, to achieve project goals.
Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior chemists and other team members, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional growth
Develop and conduct sophisticated training programs on new processes, technologies, and standard methodologies for the manufacturing team.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives, applying Lean, Six Sigma, and other methodologies to reduce costs, improve efficiency, and maintain high-quality standards.
Apply statistical tools and process modeling to identify trends, predict potential issues before they arise, optimize processes and achieve consistent, high-quality output.
Ensure all process development activities adhere to safety, environmental, and regulatory standards.
Develop, review, and maintain detailed documentation, including Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), process descriptions, and validation reports.
Ensure that all documentation meets internal quality standards and regulatory requirements.
How will you get here?
Education
Requires a Ph.D. or Masters degree in Chemistry with a strong focus on Polymer Chemistry.
Experience
5 years of proven experience in process development, particularly in polymer chemistry or related industries.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
Proven track record of leading successful process development projects and driving continuous improvement initiatives.
Deep understanding of polymer chemistry, including synthesis, characterization, and application.
Strong analytical skills, with experience in data analysis, process modeling, and statistical methods.
Excellent leadership and project management abilities, with experience mentoring and developing junior staff.
Exceptional problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex process issues.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, capable of effectively collaborating across departments and presenting to senior leadership.
Knowledge of safety, environmental, and regulatory standards in chemical manufacturing.
Proficiency in process modeling software, statistical analysis tools, and laboratory instrumentation.

Compensation and Benefits
The salary range estimated for this position based in California is $112,500.00–$168,750.00.
This position may also be eligible to receive a variable annual bonus based on company, team, and/or individual performance results in accordance with company policy. We offer a comprehensive Total Rewards package that our U.S. colleagues and their families can count on, which includes:
