Mammography Technologist

The Mammography Technologist performs a variety of technical activities associated with the performance of screening and diagnostic mammography procedures. The Mammography Technologist uses specialized X-ray equipment to take images of the breast tissue and work with radiologists to interpret the results. The Mammography Technologist helps detect breast cancers early to improve the chances of successful treatment and survival.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Performs a variety of tasks involving the operation of mammographic radiographic equipment and other equipment/devices as appropriate

Explains mammography procedure to all patients; answers any patient questions or concerns

Positions patients, using immobilization when necessary

Calculates exposure factors, and assist physicians

Performs the quality control functions related to mammography

Evaluates radiographs for diagnostic quality obtaining additional images as needed

Prepares and sets up medical supplies using aseptic techniques if appropriate. Explains procedures to patients prior to start and ongoing

Develops mammography film and match with the appropriate paperwork for interpretation

Assists in maintenance and compilation of statistical data

Adheres to all Amergis and worksite rules, policies and procedures

Other duties as assigned

Minimum Requirements:

Current State License or Certificate in state where they will be working

Two (2) years of experience as a Mammography Technologist required

Good interpersonal skills and ability to accurately communicate with patients

Complies with all relevant professional standards of practice

Participation and completion of Amergis Competency program when applicable

Current CPR if applicable

TB Questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable

Current Health certificate (per contract or state regulation)

Must meet all federal, state and local requirements

Successful completion of new hire training as applicable to job site

Understand patient confidentiality and HIPAA requirements

Ability to effectively elicit/provide information to and from appropriate individuals (including, but not limited to, supervisors, co-workers, clients) via strong communication skills; proficiency in the English language is required

Computer proficiency required

Must be at least 18 years of age
