Recreation Direct Support Professional

Position Summary: The Arc of Opportunity is actively seeking a part–time staff to join our Saturday Recreation Program. Recreation staff work every Saturday from 10am-5 or 6 pm.

Location: Fitchburg, Massachusetts (and surrounding communities).

Hours : Saturdays from 11-4 or 10-5/6, depending on the day’s activities.

Rate: $19.50

Essential Functions:

Support the Family Supports and Recreation Coordinator and participants during Saturday outings into the community. These include outings to sporting events, museums, restaurants, arts and crafts venues, etc.

Conducts oneself professionally by maintaining respect, following regulations and agency policies and adhering to confidentiality requirements in all assigned duties

Attends mandatory trainings and meetings as assigned and required

Demonstrates knowledge of and commitment to agency mission and fundamental values

Frequent driving of facility motor vehicles and vans

Additional duties as assigned

Physical demands includes: Frequent standing, pushing, pulling, walking, stooping, lifting and twisting

Qualifications:

High school diploma or GED is required, experience in relevant field preferred

A valid driver’s license and acceptable CORI/Finger printing and driving record are required at all times during employment with The Arc of Opportunity.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.; kneel, bend and carry items; and sustain periods of walking, standing, and sitting

Ability to physically assist individuals according to their needs

Ability to sustain periods of walking, standing, and sitting.

Mental Requirements:

Demonstrated superior communication skills, both in verbal and written English.

Functional and situational reasoning to follow policy, problem solve, exercise sound judgment, prioritize multiple tasks, and manage crisis
