Relay Fleet Tech owns multiple hardware and software products and tools focused on asset tracking, management, maintenance, and visibility for Middle Mile. Our primary customers are carriers, fleet operations, planning, and fraud prevention and mitigation teams. Our team is looking for a talented, motivated, and self-directed BI Engineer to join our team. As a BI Engineer, you will lead our teams metrics reporting and dashboards and work closely with the product and engineering teams to generate insights that will guide product development and execution for our customers.

Data analysis is at the core Amazon’s culture, and your work will have a direct impact on decision making and strategy for our team. You will be gathering customer insights, mining data, making recommendations, and helping senior leaders make key business decisions. You will have the opportunity to dive into multiple transportation products and use data warehouse to gather insights.

We are looking for someone with a broad technical background in data analytics/SQL/building data dashboards, strong business acumen, who takes ownership of their work, and is focused on customer needs. The successful candidate will communicate crisply in non-technical terms to senior management. They will have an ability to make data-driven conclusions and will be comfortable with ambiguity while working in a fast-paced dynamic environment. The candidate will also need to be a collaborator who can work with multiple internal and external teams to define and implement solutions that will yield benefits to Amazon customers around the world. This role could also be a good fit for someone who wants to transition to product management over time.

Key job responsibilities

– Develop and manage the business metrics reporting process and perform ad hoc reporting requests.

– Own key executive reports and metrics that are consumed by Relay leadership

– Generate actionable insights through the development of metrics, dashboards and deep dive analyses

– Analysis of data and metrics to identify trends and support decision making, including written and verbal presentation of results and recommendations.

– Engage directly with leadership to recommend business intelligence solutions.

– Model complex/abstract problems and discover insights using statistics, data mining, and visualization techniques.

– Automate processes by developing deep-dive tools, UIs, metrics, and dashboards to communicate insights to stakeholders.

Basic Qualifications

– Experience using SQL to pull data from a database or data warehouse and scripting experience (Python) to process data for modeling

– Experience with data modeling, warehousing and building ETL pipelines

– Experience with data visualization using Tableau, Quicksight, or similar tools

Preferred Qualifications

– Experience writing complex SQL queries

– 3 years of work experience of analyzing and interpreting data as a business intelligence engineer, data engineer, or at a similar capacity

– Attention to detail, passion for processes, systems and data mining.

– Experienced listener, quick learner, and able to handle ambiguity;

– Ability to work independently in a fast-paced and rapidly changing environment.

– Exposure to AWS is desired but not required.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $89,600/year in our lowest geographic market up to $185,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
