Analyst, Development Costing (Global Timberland)
What will you do?
A day in the life of a Development Costing Analyst at Timberland looks a little like this.
As a trusted member of our Global Merchandising Planning, Analytics, Profitability & Costing team, you will report to the Manager, Footwear Development Costing. By building relationships with our regional costing partners, the Product Development teams, and other internal/external contacts, you will contribute to the team’s success.
Let’s break down that day-in-the-life a bit more.
Work with the Product Development category teams to manage and achieve category margin targets by season
Use early pattern efficiency analysis as needed to present cost-saving alternatives
Provide and perform scenario analysis regarding materials, components, technology, productivity, etc., to enable improved decision-making by the product teams to cost optimization
Manage development pre-costing and proto costing to anticipate and resolve concerns
Ensure footwear component costing is transparent and accurate through a pre-season partnership with the Materials and Product Development teams
Manage cost-pertinent information (Excel cost sheets, Access database, Product Line Management (PLM), for example) to ensure internal customers have access to the latest data to make informed design, development and pricing decisions
Analyze development costing information to ensure accuracy and identify discrepancies to ensure seasonal margin targets are achieved
Maintain communication records to assure smooth workflow, timely approvals and problem resolution
Support the Development Costing Manager and Senior Cost Analysts with costing data and tool maintenance
Partner with the Materials, Product Development, and regional Sourcing teams to ensure footwear component costing is transparent, accurate, and consistent
Liaise with regional costing partners to communicate the needs of internal customers and resolve costing issues
What do you need to succeed?
We all have unique skills that we bring to work and celebrate every day. For this role, there are foundational skills you’ll need to succeed and excel. Additionally, while formal education, such as a bachelor’s degree in a related field is great to have, we are most interested in your 2 years of relevant work experience in a manufacturing or product development environment and your professional achievements.
The foundational skills you will need in this position are:
Analytical skills which lead to decision-making and problem-solving
The ability to seek out information
The adeptness to quickly assess and resolve situations with an appropriate sense of urgency
Strong written/verbal communication (especially across cultures and languages)
The aptitude to effectively prioritize workloads and work cross-functionally within the company
The flexibility to multi-task and work independently with minimal supervision
Strong computer skills are required; experience in data analysis in preferred
A desire to learn and also demonstrate a spirit of service to both internal customers and the surrounding community

Hiring Range :
$49,600.00 USD – $62,000.00 USD annually
Incentive Potential : This position is eligible for additional compensation awards that may include an annual incentive plan, sales incentive, or commission potential.
