The [Environmental Assessment Program](http://www.ecy.wa.gov/programs/eap/index.html){rel=”nofollow”} (EAP) within the Department of Ecology is looking to fill the Eastern Operations Section Manager (WMS Band 2) position. This position can be located in our Central Region Office (CRO) in [Union Gap, WA](https://uniongapwa.gov/){rel=”nofollow”}. or in our Eastern Region Office (ERO) in [Spokane, WA](https://my.spokanecity.org/){rel=”nofollow”}. Upon hire, you must live within a commutable distance from the duty station.
Section Manager positions do not become available often in Ecology. They are high level leadership positions giving the successful candidate the platform to be a strategic thinker in setting not only the path but also the pace for important environmental science. In this position, you will oversee professional staff in eastern Washington operations and be part of a highly functional program leadership team. This position will provide you with the opportunity to grow as a leader, as a strategic thinker, and enable you to exercise significant influence on what and how science informs management actions that further Ecologys mission.

Program Mission: The Environmental Assessment Program provides a range of scientific, monitoring, laboratory, and quality assurance services. Its mission is to measure, assess, and communicate environmental conditions in Washington State.
The Environmental Assessment Program has highly skilled professional staff in many diverse areas, and we like to think of it as not only a think tank of experts for solving complex information needs, but also a holistic program that has the infrastructure to implement the science to determine credible answers that can change the course of Washingtons environmental health. Our infrastructure includes a world class environmental laboratory, research vessels, sophisticated sampling equipment, and professional administrative/budget/communications/QA support.
Tele-work options for this position: This position will have flexibility of a hybrid schedule, empowering work from home and office, providing less time in traffic and shrinking your carbon footprint. This position will be eligible for up to a 60% tele-work schedule.
