Maintenance Technician

POSITION SUMMARY:
This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. The Maintenance Lead ensures that the YMCA facility is maintained to the highest standards and that all building systems are operated as efficiently as possible. The Maintenance Lead provides the Association with the best possible returns while fully satisfying member, tenant, and employee expectations through adhering to all maintenance policies and procedures.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Inspect the generator, fire extinguishers, and emergency lighting systems ensuring all systems are functioning properly in accordance with applicable codes.
2. Test pool chemistry and water quality, adjusting as required.
3. Maintain and repair general lighting in parking lot and facility including underwater pool lights.
4. Operate and maintain all aquatic, HVAC mechanical equipment, fitness equipment, and landscape maintenance operations.
5. Directs cold weather maintenance and operations, including snow removal and de-icing of facility walkways and parking lots
6. Maintain the building security system to ensure a safe atmosphere for staff and members and reduce property damage at the facility.
7. Reports maintenance and safety issues to the Facilities Director promptly and provides recommendations for repair.
8. Assist the Facilities Director in the coordination of outside contractors and vendors.

QUALIFICATIONS:

– Two-year technical program in HVAC 
– Three years in a like facility, commercial building, or building maintenance.
– One specialized certification: Certified Pool Operator, Low Pressure Boiler Operator, Gas Mechanic 1 License, or other applicable professional certification.
1. If not currently certified, will be trained and certified upon hire
– Familiar with all job safety requirements such as PPE and Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO).
– Familiarity with direct digital controls for building management systems.
– Completes all YMCA required trainings upon hire
– Possess a valid drivers license and meet all requirements of the YMCA Driver Policy.
– Ability to develop positive, authentic relationships with people from different backgrounds

STARTING PAY: $17.28/hr
