Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Senior Data Analyst within the Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey. The Rutgers Cancer Institute funds labs that offer scientific services to faculty at Rutgers University, members of the Rutgers University and Princeton University Cancer Center Consortium, and other investigators. These labs are termed Shared Resources and employ several Rutgers faculty and staff. The primary purpose of the Senior Data Analyst, Shared Resources position is to, under the direction of the Assistant Director, Shared Resources, provide coordination and data management for the NIH/NCI Cancer Center Support Grant (CCSG) and other cancer center-supported shared resources. The Program Analyst will work with the Assistant Director and Finance Manager to update grant salaries support, catalog equipment and equipment service contracts for all shared resources, and help with updating the funding sources for all of the invoices related to shared resources. The analyst is responsible for reporting financial metrics, billing, surveys, and monitors user satisfaction, analyzing data, directly supporting the administration of these labs as needed, and formulating conclusions for evaluation of CCSG and center requirements related to the management of shared resources.
Among the key duties for this position are the following:
  • Works with the Assistant Director to survey satisfaction of the Institutes Shared Resources of the Rutgers Cancer Institute, which approximately 150 independent Rutgers Faculty use annually. Tracks the actions taken in response to comments and prepares documents detailing user comments resolution using Excel, Qualtrics, and other software. Assists with deploying shared resources, user satisfaction surveys, and needs assessment surveys.
  • Schedules annual meetings for each Shared Resources Advisory Committee, tracks actions taken in response to recommendations quarterly, and reports on the resolution of each committees recommendations annually. Each meeting includes scheduling for 15-20 participants.
  • Is responsible for the financial accounting of the Rutgers Cancer Institute Biostatistics Shared Resource (BSR), involving several biostatisticians who work on multiple projects simultaneously. Tracks the utilization reported by Biostatisticians and marks the progress of the specific projects they support. Collects utilization every two weeks, uploads utilization on the Rutgers billing and project management software iLab (Agilent) and charges the Rutgers Faculty supported by the BSR biostatisticians. The BSR is utilized by approximately 50 independent Rutgers Faculty annually.
  • Provides administrative management for the iLab software by Agilent, such as but not limited to: adding new shared resources into the system and/or services; creation and maintenance of shared resource user profiles; operator training on software use; management of user fees including updating membership data that determine the user costs; management of facility SKUs and price list; troubleshooting issues for operators; interface with Agilent; communication of system upgrades and modifications to iLab stakeholders; generation and recordkeeping of SKU, use and user reports; invoicing/accounts receivable (AR) management; generation and distribution of invoices as needed; collection and posting of user payments as needed; preparation and distribution of AR reports illustrating outstanding aging invoices; follow-up on past due invoices; and creation and maintenance of iLab administrator and operator manuals.
  • Under the direction of the Assistant Director and the Finance Manager for Shared Resources, updates grant salary support quarterly, maintains a list of expensive equipment and equipment service contracts for all shared resources, and updates the funding sources from all relevant invoices.

Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience
  • A bachelors degree in business or a related field plus three (3) years of professional experience in data management or accounting of research core facilities is required.
  • Equivalent education, experience, and/or training may not be substituted for the degree requirement.

  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Planning, coordinating, evaluating, and managing projects/programs, developing action plans, and researching and interpreting data is highly preferred.
