Duties: The Department of Communication at the State University of New York (SUNY) at New Paltz invites applications for a tenure track position at the rank of Assistant Professor specializing in Strategic Communication/Public Relations. The appointment will begin In Fall 2025. The communication major program Includes concentrations in strategic communication, organizational communication, and relational communication.

The successful candidate will conduct research in one or more areas of strategic communication or public relations, participate in college service, and teach undergraduate courses related to Strategic Communication and Public Relations. The candidate may teach courses such as: Introduction to Strategic Communication, Persuasion & Social Influence, Qualitative Communication Research Methods, Strategic Public Relations Campaigns, Social Media & Public Relations, and Seminar In Strategic Communication.The successful candidate will also have teaching responsibilities In the new MA In Strategic Communication which may Include courses such as: Strategic Communication, Applied Communication Research Methods, Nonprofit Leadership and Communication, Organizational Reputation, as well as topics related to the candidate’s research interests.

Qualifications: Required:• A Ph.D. In Communication, Public Relations, or a closely related field. Exceptional ABD candidates with a firm completion date will be considered.• Demonstrated record of/or potential for scholarly publication• Post-secondary teaching experience as the instructor of record

Preferred:• Proficiency with instructional technology and online teaching• Experience with engaged learning pedagogies• Professional experience in public relations, strategic communication,or related industries• Experience in teaching a diverse student body and creating a climate that helps attract and is inclusive of all students
