What youll do The Nursing Team Leader is accountable for the delivery of safe patient care utilizing the nursing process. The RN Team Leader assesses, plans, delivers, coordinates, integrates, and evaluates nursing care related to the needs of the patient before, during and following the clinic encounter. Under direction by the Nurse Supervisor/Manager, Clinic Manager and the Medical Director/Chief, the Nursing Team Leader is responsible for coordinating nursing and daily clinical workflows. Will assist in the development of systems that maximize patient experience and provider efficiency. In addition, the Nursing Team Leader will assist with Departmental Performance Improvement activities and regulatory compliance. Works with the Supervisor/Manager to assure the appropriate application of the nursing process. Assists in the orientation, training and documentation of new clinical staff according to random sampling of personnel records by supervisor. Works directly with the Nursing Supervisor to assess and meet continuing education needs and requirements for self and nursing staff, as identified through observation. As necessary, functions in a staff nurse capacity as needed to ensure quality patient care and safety, as observed by supervisor. Works directly with Nurse Supervisor and / or the Clinic Operations Manager to implement Performance Improvement and Risk management activities and practices, as observed by manager or supervisor. Attends all divisional staff and provider meetings with the exception of scheduled time off, presents agenda items as requested by supervisor. As delegated, makes clinical assignments, monitors performance, sets work schedules and arranges coverage Responsible for the daily assignment for all nursing personnel, drafts work schedules, arranges coverage as measured by Nursing Supervisor, staff and provider feedback. Post and uploads schedules in Lawson at least four to six weeks in advance, as observed by manager/supervisor. Monitors workload, shifts staff as needs, as observed by manager/supervisor. Independently solves staffing problems, keeps manager/supervisor informed of situations beyond his/her resources, as observed by manager/supervisor. Assists with performance evaluations of clinic RN’s, LPN’s, MA’s and MOA’s based on information provided by peers, providers, and clinic manager/supervisor. Provides input for evaluations as requested on time with 100% compliance, as reviewed by manager/supervisor. Assists with interviewing candidates for open nursing positions giving useful feedback to the Nurse Supervisor/ Operations Manager in requested timeframe. Assists in the development of proposals for improved efficiency, productivity or expansion of nursing services, offers workable suggestions with follow through, as observed by manager/supervisor. Assists in the development of effective interdepartmental working relationships, to ensure smooth, efficient patient care systems. Sets an example in work performance and team building attitudes, concern for patients and support of clinicians by maintaining a positive interpersonal attitude and demeanor, as observed by manager/supervisor. Acts as a first contact for patient complaints as they relate to clinical issues and problem solves within the delegated authority provided. Works with Nurse Supervisor to assure compliance with all outside accrediting and regulatory agency codes and standards, as observed by manager/supervisor. Utilizes property and supplies appropriately and prudently to minimize waste without sacrificing quality. Assists manager/supervisor in the regular review of purchasing practices of clinic supplies. Regularly assesses the par level of supplies in use to assure supply availability as observed by supervisor. Serves as a staff resource to the clinic manager/supervisor, providers and other department members for problem solving and information gathering. Consistently ensures that patient information remains private and confidential, by identifying privacy issues and sets policies to ensure the protection of patient information, as observed by manager/supervisor. Does not discuss patient information except as necessary in the performance of job, as observed by manager/supervisor. Provides input to the Nurse Supervisor regarding potential issues surrounding Nursing Policy and Procedure. Disseminates nursing perspective and information to Nurse Supervisor, providers and other department members as needed for problem solving. Maintains current licensure, certifications, and competencies. Provides proof of current ACLS validation to the RN Supervisor. Completes required unit credentialing according to departmental policy by providing documented evidence of completion to Supervisor. Provides to RN supervisor evidence of completion of competency education for targeted age groups within the previous calendar year. Performs and documents Point of Care (POC) testing and quality control in accordance with established laboratory policies and procedure as observed by supervisor and POC staff. Maintains and documents testing reagents/supplies and equipment according to established laboratory procedures as observed by supervisor and POC staff. Performs other duties as requested and observed by supervisor or manager. What we need from you Education/Qualifications: Graduation from an Associate or Diploma Nursing Program required. Bachelors Degree in Nursing preferred All RN’s hired and do not currently hold a BSN will be expected to demonstrate enrollment in a bachelor’s prepared nursing program within 4 years of hire. BSN must be completed within 10 years. RN’s licensed on or before 12/19/17 are/remain exempt from this requirement. Experience: Minimum of 2 years of Nursing experience required At least 1 year of Nursing experience in an ambulatory care setting, preferred Leadership experience preferred Licensure/Certificates: Current NYS licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse, required Current BLS certification is required Current ACLS certification is required within 6 months Skills: Build Relationships Communication Critical Thinking Decision Making Leadership Physical Requirements: Medium Work – Exerting up to 50 lbs. for force occasionally, and/or up to 20 lbs. of force frequently, and/or up to 10 lbs. of force constantly to move objects.
