Maintenance Assistant

Maintenance Assistant – One opening is available on Evening shift for a Maintenance Assistant in Plant Facilities. The successful candidate must be able to assist the Plant Facilities Team in maintaining the GBHC Campus.
Job Duties/Expectations:
Perform work under the direction of a journeyman-level tradesman in more than one trade to meet facility needs (e.g., carpentry, plumbing, etc.) Coordinate with Work Control supervisors to provide direction to a multi-functional work crew (carpentry, electrical, painting, and plumbing).
Perform routine, repetitive, maintenance tasks.
Perform a combination of tasks in the Mechanical, Building construction, Motor equipment, Snow removal, Grounds Work and Electrical trades.
Incumbents may also perform journey-level activities under supervision, or after receiving detailed instructions to learn and perfect their skills.
Maintain necessary repair records, preventative maintenance schedules, and other reports and records as necessary.
When weather does not permit Maintenance Assistants to perform their normal duties, they may be assigned to other maintenance activities, such as snow and ice removal.
The incumbent of this position may occasionally be required to work shifts & weekends and may have responsibilities in other departments in the Plant Facilities organization.
Minimum Qualifications:
2 years of experience in maintenance, grounds, or mechanical, or other building trade under a skilled journeyman which would provide training equivalent to that given in an apprenticeship program. (Apprentice training or training gained by the completion of technical courses in a trade at a school or institute may be substituted for the above experience on year for year basis).
Applicants must possess and maintain a valid Drivers License.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in Electrical, HVAC, Painting, or plumbing will be helpful in this position.
