Student Accounts Specialist – (Provisional) Finance – SUNY Broome Community College has an immediate opening for a Student Accounts Specialist position in the Finance Office. This appointment is provisional pending
satisfactory completion of the Civil Service testing requirement.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Processes complex financial transactions.
Processes payments for students and 3rd parties.
Tracks, audits and monitors a variety of documents related to student accounting.
Prepares moderately complex reports.
Responds to telephone and in-person inquiries regarding student accounts and financial status.
Works with 3rd party collection agencies.
Requirements:
Minimum qualifications:
Graduation from a NYS registered or regionally accredited college or university with an associates degree in accounting, business, or a closely
related field and two years of experience maintaining financial accounts and records; OR
Completion of 60 credit hours at a NYS registered or regionally accredited college or university which must have included at least eight credit hours in accounting or
bookkeeping and two years of experience maintaining financial accounts and records; OR
Graduation from high school or possession of an equivalency diploma and four years of experience maintaining financial accounts and records; OR
An equivalent combination of training and experience as defined by the limits of (A), (B), and (C) above.
Requires proficiency with Word and Excel.
Must have a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
Must have the ability to analyze, organize data and prepare and maintain reports and spreadsheets.
Strong customer service skills.
Must have the ability to develop effective working relationships with the students, parents, the general public and campus constituencies, as
Part of a team environment, as well as the ability to work independently.
The ability to develop proficiency with the Banner Student Information System.
The ability to develop and maintain working knowledge of Federal, State and local regulations pertaining to the department.
Other requirements include: confidentiality, adaptability, dependability, multi-tasking and the ability to work effectively and accurately with ongoing distractions/interruptions.
Additional Information:
The hourly salary for this position is $22.00.
Offers of employment will be conditional based upon the results of a satisfactory, required pre-employment Standard Background Check.
