We believe in the importance of pay transparency in what we offer potential candidates.- Provided is the national pay range for this position which is $100,000 to $155,000 per year. - However, the base pay offered may vary depending on geographic region, internal equity, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors.
In addition to base salary, this position is eligible for an annual bonus. The targeted bonus amount is 13% of base salary based on company and individual performance measures.- The Total Target Cash range (base pay and annual bonus) for this position, is $112,000 to $175,000 . Bonus payments are part of variable compensation and by nature can vary based on company and individual performance and is not a guarantee.

JOB SUMMARY
This position provides leadership and management of the Specialty Grains and Powders (SGP) purchasing strategy for Capital projects and coordinates with the North American CAPEX team to deliver financial benefits as a result of contracting for best value through competitive bidding and/or negotiations.- The position ensures compliance with SG Best Practices for CAPEX purchasing and procedures, supporting -the Company’s internal control requirements.- This candidate will exhibit leadership and project management skills, initiative, and is a strong analytical/problem solver.- The candidate must be flexible and willing to adapt to changing business and environmental demands and work well with cross-functional teams.
This position is also responsible for assisting in developing and implementing a sourcing strategy that aligns with the Company’s sustainability roadmap related to Scope 3 CO2 emissions reduction and driving the efforts to qualify alternate sources for critical raw materials for risk mitigation and leverage during negotiations. -Additionally, the position will be responsible for developing, maintaining, and training plant personnel on a common North American ISO Purchasing Procedures and support the sites during ISO & customer audits.
This position will sit on-site at a SGP manufacturing location, preferrably in NY.
Bachelors of Science degree in engineering or other technical degree
5 years of professional experience in a related role within a manufacturing environment
2-5 years of experience in technical/capital purchasing within a manufacturing environment preferred
Must have strong analytical and problem-solving skills with demonstrated results
Strong communication and interpersonal skills with ability to drive projects to completion
Must have strong computer skills – proficient with MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.-
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Capex:
Develop and manage the purchasing strategy for procurement of capital equipment and services in co-ordination with the North American CAPEX team to ensure compliance with SG Best Practices and internal control requirements.
Develop increased competition and a preferred CAPEX vendor list where possible.
Work with plant managers and site engineering to ensure early involvement in capital projects.
Ensure technical specifications are developed, solid and fair bidding processes are followed, and leading competitive country options are considered whenever possible.
Review all capital appropriation requests submitted for NA to ensure the entire process meets internal control requirements and that all necessary documentation is included with the request.
Negotiate applicable CAPEX contracts for NA sites, working with the Legal teams as necessary, ensuring that SGP sites follow corporate requirements.
Provide purchasing support as needed throughout and after project completion.
Sustainability:
Assist in developing and implementing a sourcing strategy that aligns with the company’s sustainability roadmap related to Scope 3 CO2 emissions reduction.
Support the Scope 3 reporting requirements and metrics for SGP globally.
Educate and train team members on sustainability procurement best practices.
Engage suppliers as needed in sustainability assessments and meetings.
Collaborate with suppliers and internal stake holders to unlock & implement innovative & sustainable sourcing solutions.
Support the company’s objective of increasing the use of Secondary Raw Materials.
Support of Saint-Gobain’s Corporate Social Responsibility Initiatives (Supplier Charter, Ecovadis, Timber Certificates, CO2 emission reduction, etc) and management of suppliers to ensure same.
Risk Management & Second Sourcing:
Analyze North American spend for raw materials and assist the plants with developing an action plan of working towards multi-source solutions for risk mitigation and leverage during negotiations.
Lead the technical sourcing efforts in collaboration with internal business partners to identify & quality potential suppliers for sole and single sourced critical materials.
Maintain and communicate the risk matrix and project action plan.
Provide new product development support for sourcing identification and quoting in response to R&D needs.
NA ISO Purchasing Element owner:
Develop, maintain, and train plant personnel on common North American ISO QSMs and QSPs.
Support the site during ISO & Customer Audits.
