Job Summary

Responsible for providing essential support to surgical staffing while ensuring a smooth and efficient operating room environment. This role is critical to patient safety and the overall success of surgical procedures. Provide dedicated and detail-orientated support in a high-quality, efficient and timely manner.

Duties and Responsibilities

Assist the surgical team in preparing the operating room for procedures and ensuring all necessary supplies are available.

Help transport patients to and from the operating room, ensuring their comfort and safety.

Maintain cleanliness and organization of the operating room before, during, and after procedures.

Support the surgical team by providing instruments and supplies as needed during surgeries.

Assist with the setup and breakdown of equipment and ensure all items are properly sanitized.

Monitor the condition of surgical equipment and report any issues to the surgical staff.

Collaborate with nurses and surgeons to ensure a direct and efficient workflow.

Adhere to all safety and infection control protocols.

Qualifications

Requirements and Qualifications

Associates degree preferred; HS diploma or GED required; additional certification in healthcare highly desired.

Proven experience (2 years) in a healthcare setting, operating room or surgical environment is preferred.

Demonstrated ability to remain calm and focused during high-pressure situations.

Strong communication and teamwork skills required.

Understanding surgical procedures and terminology is an advantage.

Physical stamina and the ability to lift or move patients is required.

Computer skills required with minimum proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams.

Physical Demands

Manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination to enter data, provide patient care, and operate equipment.

Corrected vision and hearing within normal range to observe and communicate with patients, providers, and staff.

Frequent reaching, stooping, squatting, bending, kneeling, and crouching.

Extensive standing and walking required.

Occasional lifting and carrying items weighing up to 25 pounds.

Occasional exertion of 10lbs or more of force.

Work environment may involve some exposure to hazards/physical risk.

Position requires full range of body motion including ability to position and move patients.
